Not my booties x-x

But I suppose the SSF4 PC is more likely now because of the arcade version coming out soon, but still =/ It just feels bad to not have the latest version of your favourite thing, just because some jerks are harassing the creators...sigh..

Maybe if companies made stuff worth buying.... I bought RE5, and I wasn't that impressed. It wasn't horrible, but jesus christ could someone please hire them a script writer.

Gaming isn't some god given right, it's a luxury. If you weren't going to get them anyway like you say then you really have no right to play it, no matter how you try to rationalize it. However since you did download it, it means you did have some intention to play or get it which means you're just being cheap/lazy.
Intention to play =/= intention to buy.
Ye , sure I'm not saying pirating isn't wrong I just chose to do it.My alternative is to get another job just to be able afford 1 game a month and ironicly if I do that I wouldn't have ANY free time EVER so that renders the whole thing pointless(plus my grades would plummet)

On the other end of the spectrum, in my country (Australia) we pay DOUBLE what Americans pay. It pisses me off to see Americans complaining about how much they get charged for games when we get charged $120-$130 AU.
Bought Fallout 3 for about 110$ when it came out.

People will pirate no matter what. Period.
But you can lessen it. Publishers need to get this through their thick fucking skulls. And a good place to start would be to treating the consumers less like criminals and more like actual people.

Boohoo.

Glad I pirated both Resi 5 and SF4 and realized I didn't like them rather than spend my money on them.

However, I pirated DMC4 and found out I thought the game was pretty good. I then proceeded to buy the game on Steam.

Ironically, out of the 200+ games I own for the PC alone, almost all of them I pirated first, and then proceeded to buy. Most of them I would never have bought without trying them first. Including DMC4.

As a result, since I started pirating I am buying more games than ever before.

But it's cool, you can keep thinking piracy is irrefutably evil, and I will keep pirating, buying more games than most people on this forum, and laughing at the ignorance :)

Pirates are a goddamn scapegoat.

Pirated games =/= lost sales. The vast majority of pirated games are pirated by people who would not purchase that game.

Why do people pirate anyways? I mean I pirate myself but only really old games that aren't at my local game stores, I can't find any wheres else, or would be too old to even work properlky on my computer, like DOSbox games, oh and when I say pirate games I mean games today
Some just don't want to pay, some try to avoid stupid DRM, some use it as a demo to see if a game is good or not.
To the last part of what you said....don't we usually have demos for that?

Thank you for helping talk some sense into the crowd. I really do believe people look at the wrong things when it comes to "piracy"

Also, no one has truly looked into the GAO report that says that 1) Big entertainment companies are lying to you and 2) there's quite a few positives that people tend to ignore when they look down on copyright infringement.

This.

The vast majority of people who pirate movies/music/games never intended to buy it. ever.

I'm a little bit like that with music. A lot of music I like isn't the kind of stuff you find on Spotify and whatnot, so I'm not buying an album before I've heard all of it. So I'll pirate it. The stuff that I like best will get bought, the rest will be deleted or kept for the simple fact that I might want to listen to it occasionally. But I never intended nor will I ever intend to buy all the music I've got from torrents, only the stuff I know I'll listen to more than once or twice. I really don't have the money to be buying every bit of music I ever listen to.

I would never pirate games though, simply because it's not a case of download, drag, drop into iTunes like music is, and there's far more sophisticated ways of detracting from a game that's been pirated... if I can't afford a game, I just don't bother with it until I can, or I try and find it second hand.

Agreed, there's a difference between downloading something that a person that bought put on the internet and actually steal that thing from a store or something.

Besides just because some1 pirated a game doesn't mean it the same person would actually buy it if it couldn't pirate it, several people pirate games because they are afraid to dump their money on something that isn't worthwhile.

Some people pirate just to avoid the DRM in games. Securom, Ubisoft's crap that got cracked in less than a day, and all the other junk that screws up either the computer it sneaks into or the game itsself(looking at you GFWL).
