Facebook and why you don't use it (Only for people that don't use it)

I also have never used facebook or myspace or any of that other garbage. I don't use it because I simply dont want to. I'm sure people that I'd rather never want to talk to again may find me and I like my past just where it is. Also the people I want to talk to, I talk to with my mouth. Crazy concept I know. Not to mention the whole breaches of privacy and viruses I hear the site so loves to allow.

I used to use it and I still have mine but no one seems to really ever want to talk to me. So yeah. I don't really mind because most of my friends on Facebook are either from before I moved or I barely know and their bullshit is of the highest caliber. I really want nothing to do with it. I prefer using my phone and talking to the three people that actually matter to me.

I used to not use facebook because I hated people.

Now I don't use facebook because I don't want my E-mail address put on a list that is then sold to the highest bidding spambots. Because if I want to keep in touch with my friends, I will call them, or text them, or preserve the decaying mail system and send them a letter, or write an email, or, heaven forbid, possibly even walk up to them, face to face, and say "how's it going?". Because facebook qualifies as freaking MALWARE. Because not having a facebook with drunken posts and dubious pictures is one less strike against me during the periodical internet background checks. Because I don't want anything put on my computer that proceeds to mine my personal information, which is then sold to the marketing divisions of large corporations OR WORSE.

Your obviously not the only one, their are a few of us out there as you can see!
The main reasons that I don't use it are firstly that I'd have friend requests from people in high school who I either barely remember or never liked to begin with. While I know you can say "well just ignore the friend request then" I'd still have to waist my time sorting through the damn requests and notifications.
The second reason is that as an IT student I know the massive potential for personal data theft that comes with facebook, and I just have no desire to make it that easy for my data to be gathered.

This, this this a thousand times this godamn it. I have a nerdy nerdy nerd nerd group of friends. And that was fine RIGHT up until face-book, now they will barely bloody communicate to each other in any other fashion. Its like for them shit actually HAPPENS ON FACEBOOK and if you don't participate you "weren't there".

I had to sign up just so I didn't feel like every one was constantly talking about a party I wasn't invited to. And what do I find? The same boring asinine slug turds that they think passes for conversation in real life. Oh man, I'm about to start solving my problems with a chainsaw if this shit keeps up.

Got nothing to say and Im not listening. Its like lurking on the flat earthers forum (or a creationist forum), but you cant troll them. Because they are your "friends"

Simply put. Facebook carries too much crap I dont need to know for the sake of staying in touch with perhaps... 2 or 3 real friends.

I don't like that anything you say "okay" to (apps and the like) can post and message through your account, I don't like that my friends are idiotic enough to post phone numbers, addresses and where they are going to be every minute.

Needless complications of people who ask everyday "have you seen my pictures?" "why haven't you commented on them", "i'll comment on yours if you comment on mine" or "You have mail: X commented on Y's picture"...And I care..why?

People who take it like a personal offence if you don't approved their friend request in 2.1 minutes or those who expect a detailed account of my everyday life and preferences and are offended if I don't give them.

Not all my friends are like that, but somehow Facebook brings out the worst in them.

My introversion aside, mostly I want to know my friends in person, not through a cloud of 1s and 0s that look pretty. I don't want random people 'friending' me. I don't want personal information on display to the whole world where it might get stolen. The games on there suck. I don't want to become a facebook zombie and add any more elements to my procrastination that I need to crush. Also, if you want a job, they will look up your facebook page to check up on you, and some businesses base their hiring system around your facebook friend list.

I don't use facebook because I have a mobile phone and if I want to see what my friends are up too or just talk them I will call or text them, truth be told i've never had a myspace account for the exact same reason. But what really gets to me is the pointless crap that gets started because of it especially because of something so stupid as not commenting on somebodys status or tagging them in a photo.

I don't really 'use' facebook. My profile is all but blank, I don't play facebook games or use facebook apps, and I don't really post anything. To me, facebook is like an auxiliary e-mail address that the friends I hardly ever see use to keep in touch with me.

I don't do a lot of stuff on facebook for two reasons.

1: I'd like to have a job at some point, and if I started posting a lot of stuff on facebook it would just be another thing that might possibly disqualify me for a position.

2: I don't believe that two people can really become 'friends' through a channel as limited as facebook. If I want to be friends with a person, I'll try to do it through face-to-face interaction. THEN I'll friend you on facebook because it's a convenient way to keep in touch.

Seriously I my parents where pressuring me to take Facebook so I wouldnt be socially akward or something like it. They read some bullshit article that 90% of the kids has it and its better for X and Y blablabla.

No seriously I know guys who have like 400 friends on facebook and what in the hell is the use in that? You will only see 15-30 of them a week so what is the use in having so many "friends" you hardly ever see.

None of my friends use Facebook (or at least don't use it often for social networking).

When I had an account I kept on getting friend requests and messages from people I sort of knew years ago, and since I never went on it some people thought I was ignoring them (which I sort of was). It all became too much of a bother so I deleted the account. Every week I hear from my sister about the falling outs and messes that happen with her friends due to Facebook, and I don't want to go back.

EDIT: When I had a Facebook account I had only one picture on it, and it was of me in disguise.
