I found an error in that trailer! Nobody writes "Where are you?" on Facebook, they write "where are u".

I wonder what the next thing will be, The Escapist Movie?
I can imagine the plot, involved is people watching Zero Punctuation, John Funk's funky sideburns and people on the forums giving each other cookies for references.
It will be AWESOME! [SUB]But the Facebook one won't.[/SUB]

I might see it, considering David Fincher is the director. It doesn't look that bad.

I would rather see a movie about the creation of 4chan.

I almost laughed when I saw the trailer for this movie when I went to see Inception.

Ooh, legal battles and court dates, what fun!

Honestly, it isn't like anyone who uses Facebook on a regular basis actually gives a shit about how it came to be. Why not devote these resources to something that matters, like just give it all to charity? That will at least get you publicity other than "Facebook Movie is Made: Sucks the Big One."

I am more interested in the spin off movie; Farmville Massacre: The story of the psycho cow.
But the movie that looks even better is Pong: The Movie.

It looks like a crappy college film. I might see it just to see how they can make a dramatic, soulful movie out of an internet site. I can't wait for the next internet based films like "4chan: The Movie" or "Rule 34, now in 3-D!"

Wow, you guys really don't like Facebook. Idk, it seems kind of interesting, don't think of it as a facebook movie, it's more of what facebook DID to the guys who created it (namely ruined their lives) which is something you escapists might enjoy.

I'm not sure why so many people are not liking the idea of this. It's the story of the creation of one of the most popular sites in the world revolving around a law suit with billions of dollars at stake. It's hardly the worst concept I've ever heard for a movie.

One thing I will say is it's probably way too soon. It's widely known that this case is still on going. Unless that want to stray from fact and create their own outcome it looks like at this point they're making a movie without and ending.
The reason I don't want to go see it is because they are playing it out to be soooo epic. Like this was a war of some sorts. It was interesting but Facebook was made out of a dorm to make the creator more popular, Tom got pissed and wanted to go to court. There. Thats it.
Of coarse it looks epic. It's a trailer. They're made to try to draw in as many as possible. You'll have a hard time finding a trailer saying without words "This is a slow thoughtful movie that won't have your heart racing."

Anyway your argument is just a little flawed. In the Shawshank Redemption a man goes to prison, is stuck there for several decades, then he escapes. That's it. (Don't get me wrong, I seriously doubt this will be anywhere near the same league as Shawshank, but you get the idea.)
Well I didn't intend on this being a argument I was just stating why it doesn't seem to interesting to my self. I never saw Shawshank. I just now the whole story so it doesn't interest me.

Well, it is by David Fincher. The guy knows what he's doing. I'm sure they'll manage to squeeze some drama out of it somehow, and if anyone can, Fincher can. Also, Jesse Eisenberg is an awesome actor. I'm sure it'll be worth a watch, despite the subject matter.

As - seemingly - the ONLY facebook user on this site, I have to say that this looks reasonably interesting.

WHAT?!?! Next thing you know there gonna make a movie about a cheese sandwich! Or the DS sitting on my desk right now! But a FACEBOOK MOVIE?!?
My thoughts exactly. Who the hell looked at the founders of Facebook and thought there was movie potential?

Facebook is an epic thing, anyway. Its epicness is hard to overstate.
When it comes to facebook, the first word that comes to my mind is not "epic". It's "redundant".
Facebook is a massive big deal. Half a billion people in the western world using one website, able to talk to each other all instantly, share photos, music and video, play games... hardly redundant. A big deal. A huge, huge, huge deal. Just ask the Chinese government if Facebook matters.
toilet paper is a big deal, billions of people use toilet paper, let us make a movie about that
And now I just peed myself laughing. Thanks for that.

This is the kind of movie that appeals to the audience of "You've Got Mail"

Actually, I could see a 4chan movie being a big deal. It would start by panning in on a dead computer screen. Then the screen would come on, and a male voice-over would say, "I am Anonymous." Then a chorus of voices would all start saying it, overlapping each other, and just before the audience is deafened by the rising voices, Moot would appear onscreen and the voices would go silent. And he'd say, "Welcome to the Internet, Anonymous."

Hmm...

You should see Shawshank. It's one of the best movies ever made.

I would also say you should give this movie your time as well, simply because it's being directed by David Fincher, the guy behind Fight Club, which is also one of the best movies ever made.

I personally think you've judged this movie way more harshly than it needs to be judged, especially from a trailer that is designed to sell through
Epic[Unquote] moments, such as the oh so explosive puking and slamming of papers on desks. I'm not a fan of facebook, as I've said in this thread, but the focus of the lawsuit doesn't matter if the lawsuit is an interesting story in itself, as well as being directed well, which chances are it will be.

Really, this needs to be a movie that's seen? Really? Why is this even being made? Why?

It's just really perplexing.

Why? Is the question I keep asking, WHY?!
