Fake video game "secrets"

I heard loads of Pokemon "secrets" in school. People were saying things about the 'Black Charizard', a 'Golden Garydos' and how to get pokemon eggs to have attacks.

Thats possible well not charzard but there is like a 1 in 3,500 chance that the pokemon will be a diffrent color. I know it works because I have a green vulprix. I know that this sound super nerdy but I'm okay with that.

I heard a lot of Missingno. rumors while playing Pokemon.

I can't believe Nintendo got rid of it in the remakes (fire red and leaf green). Not even so much as a reference!

Pardon me if i sound ignorant, but what the hell is Missingno?

Its a glitched entity that is only catchable W/O a cheat device in Red and Blue by surfing as close as possible to the east coast of cinnabar island. Its sprite looks like a blob of scrambled pixels. Its rumored to crash your game if you capture it, killing it is ok and running works too

I was told by a guy I knew way back in grade school that Donkey Kong Country's Mine Kart Madness level (I think that's the name) had this place right at the beginning where you could fall off and hold Left and a barrel would launch you almost to the end.

I didn't believe him for two reasons: first, I'd fallen off there before and instinctively held Left to try to stay on the platform, which didn't work, and second, I knew him to be a straightfaced liar when he thought there were lulz to be had.

Smash Brothers Melee: Beating 20 wires in cruel Melee to unlock Sonic and Tails.

Majora's Mask: Shooting a fire arrow into the air while playing the SOng of Healing at the dog ranch, which would summon Ganon for a bonus fight.

Armored Core: Pressing several buttons at a time while in the training room to unlock the most powerful robot in the game (inverted because you get something cool if you do that, it's just not what they said it was)

In San Andreas there was the myths saying to have seen Bigfoot, animals, aliens, UFO's, Pigsy from Manhunt, and the Man In Black from Dark Tower (This was the only true one)

GTA 4 a particularily hilarious thing I did to my friends in GTA 4 sandbox was this;
I told them to all get in a boat with me. I told them I knew a way to get infinite health in GTA so then I drove to the edge of the map as far away as I wanted to. I told them that if they get out the game will glitch and they'll have infinte health. They got out and I drove away with them rolling off the boat.

Leaving them to swim all the way back.

I'll probably think of more.

lol i was told that but could never do it. in the end i told my friend about and he did it! nothing actually happened of course but he continued playing creul melee and actually managed to get 321!!!!! with ganondorf!!!! i came. and no i haven't seen him do it in person that was his very highest achievement. i have on the other hand seen him get +160 when i came over which is still pretty impressive.

Not a fake thing, but my brother used action replay on leafgreen, somehow he turned into a girl, and then a clipboard. He had to restart the entire game again.

There are so many in Pokemon. All the unexplained myths and legends and unavailable Pokemon in the later games don't do anything to help this.
I think Pokemon has so many of these because it has a young fanbase, and the internet was not a viable tool to receive confirmation of rumors back in the old days.

The whole missingno thing being true really opened up the mind to what else might be true.

Well damn, so it does. I thought he was just being a jerk because he regularly was one, and I had a donkey kong shirt on that I really liked that he made fun of me for.

I was told that there was a way to get into Bill's backyard in Pokemon Red and Blue.

What you had to do was defeat the Elite Four ten times in a row without talking to anyone except for this one guy in that one city just north of Pallet Town. Once you did this, if you went to Bill's house (North of the Northermost city... you know, the one where Misty was), he would let you into his backyard, and then into a cave in the mountain behind that yard. I think you were supposed to be able to capture Mew if you went in there, but I'm not sure.

Very close to something i did. I drove a friend on a boat behind happiness island and shot him in the head xD

I think you can get back there with a glitch or something, but there is nothing there. Can anyone else confirm this?

In Pokemon games, I believed that holding down the B button and pressing the directional buttons in a counter-clockwise pattern gave you a better chance of catching the pokemon as soon as the ball closes.

The blob was named Missing No. and he was used for item multiplication. Catching him did screww up the game. I used this cheat many many times.
