You can, just not by pushing the truck or capturing all 150 Pokemon and then doing some random cheat code.

I believe it involves the Gambler by the city with the Pokemon Tower?

As I've already posted in this thread, I'll also mention the millions of ones in Animal Crossing Wild World.
ie see Nook with his teddy bear by bashing the store three times with a shovel, see Resetti's house, golden Timer...

Not even bring Aeris back to life? I don't know many people who weren't duped by that.

Also, I know it's a little late, but happy one year anniversary on The Escapist!

In Mario Kart 64, if you drove the Bowser's Castle course backwards three times, and then completed the race, you would free the Green Thwomp in the cell, and he would become an available driver. I was a stupid, stupid child.

Wow, that doesn't even look real in the slightest. But, over ten years ago I'm sure it was very convincing =P

I was told that if I drove the tank around squishing people in Goldeneye for N64 long enough one of them would yell "Oh sweet Jesus it tickles!"
That BTW is the funniest thing I've read all day.

Anywho, way back when GTA was top down I was convinced by a friend that there was a controllable helicopter somewhere on the map.

Why is there so much deception regarding Pokemon games? The Pokemon fanbase sounds vicious.

That if you go up to the wall with a rocket launcher in Halo 2 and shoot, you get invincibility for 5 minutes.

I was so stupid when I was 10.

*sigh*

I hated myself when I was ten...

You think? I was just scrolling down here and found that a large quantity of the posts here mentioned pretty much all of the oldest pokemon game's rumors. But I'm glad alot of the people here still remember the oldest pokemon game's classic "secrets" even though I don't really like pokemon ever since the third series.

I heard a lot of Missingno. rumors while playing Pokemon.

I can't believe Nintendo got rid of it in the remakes (fire red and leaf green). Not even so much as a reference!
Pardon me if i sound ignorant, but what the hell is Missingno? I heard some rumors when I was younger but I never found out what it was...

Also, I agree with you scifidownbeat, the remakes should have these glitches that they had in the original games! I mean, a few hours after beating the elite 4, the post game gets pretty boring and the glitches keep the dedicated players interested.
Basically, the missingno glitch was performed by flying to viridian, talking to the old coffee guy and having him show you how to catch a pokemon. Then immediately flying to cinnabar and surfing up and down the coast. Eventually you will encounter a "pokemon" called missingno. Missing No.(Number). Its basically a graphics glitch that was unintentionally left in the game. I believe he's made up of binary code when you look at him. Basically he can be any level. I've seen a level 1 missingno and a level 126 one too. He can also be any pokemon including kangaskhan and rhydon who can also be level 126. Missingno sometimes had 2 water gun attacks and when you encountered him or any of the special versions of other pokemon, the 6th item in your inventory was duplicated a bunch of times to give you something like 100 of them. Used often for master balls and rare candies. The main part of the glitch is that it will often take the form of any pokemon in the area you were just in. Which is where the safari zone comes in. You go in, go to an area with a really rare pokemon, and then do the glitch and surf up and down cinnabar's coast until you find the one your looking for. If you caught missingno it would very often corrupt your game or the cartridge itself and make it unplayable. It can also morph your characters looks by turning him into random combinations of other characters pixels. Sorry this was so long but now you know :p

Edit: Forgot to mention that if you catch the level 126 versions of anything they will go right back to level 100 after they get any experience.

My friend told me the fantastic tale of how he once got the "Crystal Sword" in Ocarina of Time by doing the Biggoron's sword quest and straying off course on one of the timed challenges.

Needless to say, I spent a week doing the same quest over and over again.

heh, i got told it was by getting knocked out on that big boat instead of leaving it normally, then you can go examine the trailer outside it, which you couldn't do before

I've fallen for this and made others fall for it too. In Call of Duty: UO or 1, tell people to type +left in the console and it will make your character left handed. It sounds so believable, right? What it does is makes you spin constantly and you can't stop unless you type +right or -left. It's hilarious to trick people with.

The code to see Lara Croft naked springs to mind.
That one was actually true.

Kind of. The rumour was that performing a certain amount of frontflips/ backflips would activate a cheat to get Lara naked.
There has never been a nudity cheat, just a patch for the PC version made by a perverted fan.

This was back in the day before everyone had easy access to the Internet so it was harder to verify if it was real or not.

There were countless rumours at my school about how many times you won the Pokemon ;eague would result in something:

1) You'd play Proffesor Oak
2) You'd unlock the Orange League (that Pokemon series with water and stuff)
3) You'd get Mewtwo or something.
4) Unrelated but also if you talked to the guy in Palet town before doing anything else at the start of Red/Blue, you'd instanty get a Charizard and Hitmonchan.

Also there was that Bigfoot thing in GTA? Was that true or not?

I swear this actually works:
If you hold "a" and "up" while catching Pokemon, you catch the Pokemon regardless of what ball used.

I caught Mewtwo first time using a regular pokeball.
