Hey its you, the guy I haven't agreed with yet.
You seriously think Obama fails do you, Tell me how do you expect him to fix everything from the last 8 years in a financial crisis?
The fact that the his healthcare gets blocked by conservatives is enough proof that the congress is opposing him and it isn't his lack of initiative.

Also; considering foreign politics he is a fresh breath of air that lots of countries welcome.
I don't really care, I still hate America, along with a lot of the rest of the world...

Maybe hate is too strong a word, "strongly dislike"....

Also, that isn't a slur against all Americans, just a lot of them.
That's interesting. Where are you from and why do you hate, umm strongly dislike us? We are arrogant bastards just the same as the rest of the world. But we trrrryyyyyy to do the right thing once in a while.
Well I'm from Australia, and like I said, I don't 'strongly dislike' a lot/most Americans, but I guess it would have to be

a) My experience with 'some' American tourists
b) Douche-Americans who have no awareness of the world outside of the US (a small percentage, but it's still there) and are somewhat blinded by the American education system (one of my friends thought for a while that London was it's own country and the capital of Australia was New Zealand...)
c) Americans who seem to forget that not everybody lives in the US.

Again, only a small percentage of Americans, but it taints my view of America in general (as much as I don't want it to)
well we American's love Australia. Why do you think we keep stealing your actors, and making them huge movie stars over here? ;)

I really find Australian people pretty damn friendly and attractive. The women are so down to earth and genuine. I love Lauren Jackson. As far as not being educated about the world, well that's median for most people in the world don't you think? You expect anyone vacationing for a week in any country not their own to have a clue during a two week period? You spent your whole life knowing your culture. If it's ignorance and arrogance that's not acceptable, but everyone's an individual over here mate. I can't speak for all of us.

p.s. we all do know Zealand is the capitol of New Zealand here. I mean we 'do' know that.

So while browsing another forum, I came across this [http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123051100709638419.html] basically predicts the United States would break apart by the end of 2010.

Personally, I do not believe this for two reasons:

Less serious 1: We're too lazy to break apart. Would be too much effort for us.

More serious 2: Yes, we have internal problems, but not enough to "break apart".

It should also be noted this was predicted by a Russian. So yah. Take it as you will.
I would take everything Panarin says with a grain of salt....actually, more like a pile of salt. Not beacuse he is Russian, but beacuse he is a member of the Russian goverment. As such, his "advices" are coloured by Kremlin's geopolitical agenda.

Having said that, I think the claim that the United States could fall apart is not without merit. All great empires have ended by falling apart from the inside as a result of their agressive expansion outwards and the US has become preety similar in this regard. Remember, there was a time when people ridiculed the idea of the USSR falling apart and look how that turned out.

Overall, I do believe that the US will eventually crumble under it's own weight if things continue as they have so far. However, I do not expect it to happen so soon and I certainly do not expect it to happen in the manner Panarin describes.

The guy has based his theory on an ignorant notion.
He thinks the US is similar to the Soviet Union, brittle, corrupt and without national infrastructure.

In short, he hasn't got the foggiest what he's talking about.

D:
Oh good lord those kinds of people make me nearly shove my hand through my face I facepalm so hard.
That's another thing that bothers me is that some people here I chat with nearly fall out of their chairs when I tell them there are other people and countries in the world besides the USA. It would be a nice balance if we could keep the patriotism we have now and at the same time respect and acknowledge we're not the only goddamn place on the planet with people on it. :I
They're exactly the people I'm talking about.

It is ignorance and arrogance that annoys me, even since I was a young boy (maybe 6?) I've had a decent awareness of the world around me. I accept that many people will not be interested in learning/keeping up with global affairs, but I am talking about people that are completely and totally ignorant.

"As far as not being educated about the world, well that's median for most people in the world don't you think?"

I disagree to an extent...

"p.s. we all do know Zealand is the capitol of New Zealand here. I mean we 'do' know that."

lol, the capital is Wellington.

p.s.
I apologise if I'm coming off as a bit of an a$$, I really do. I don't think it helps that I'm incredibly tired.

The USA still has at least ~25 years of remaining as the world's only true superpower in my opinion. After that it will probably be a toss-up. All the "America is screwed" talk that i've been hearing lately seems like a mix between pessimism and secretive wishful thinking people have and will continue to have until they see what a post-US superpower world will actually look like. The USA's debt problem isnt as bad as people think it is (it's still bad), the rising powers in China and other developing nations are not doing as well as people think they are, and it will probably take even longer than 25 years before a rival power (China, India, etc) is able to come close to the quality and power of the US military. This is just my humble opinion though as someone who has dug into this subject alot lately.

A less respectful response would be that the person who made that prediction is a tosser. :p
Oh really?

http://www.usdebtclock.org/

National Debt > $13 Trillion

Total debt owed by everyone in U.S. > $56 Thousand Trillion

Total debt per family = $688,729

Income per family = $62,357

So everyone's over borrowed by 11 times their income...

I am personally debt-free.

well it's nice to talk to some people, and you hmar9333 Aussie dude. I'm signing off. Sorry if we are ignorant/arrogant, but, good 'ol U.S.A. won't be falling apart soon... because I live here. hahaha.

Seriously I'm a Seattle Liberal who has moved to a super conservative small town in colorado, and despite not seeing eye to eye on politics at all, we get along because of our love for our country. No irony intended. so fortunate to be born where we have this freedom. Other countries have it, but so many in this small world of ours do not. I'm humbled by my good fortune. I wish everyone that same freedom to live life as you want to, free of worries of repression from your government.

Woah, I thought Australia's debt of ~40 Billion was bad... then again, we have <30 Million citizens.

9/11 showed us that we may have varying opinions and beliefs but we still are a very unified nation.
There is nothing better for patriotism then a big disaster like that happening, it makes the people scared and more likely to follow the goverment whatever they plan on doing. If anything patriotism went up 1000% after 9/11, united against what perceived threats (you even had a go at the french at one point for not supporting your war, renaming french fries, etc).

Otherwise im not american, so have no clue, but im under the impression UK is far more likely to be broken up then USA, scots want to break off and if they succeed, wales and northern ireland might get similar ideas.
Yah, but we got too lazy to care for the name change, and went back to calling the regular names.

I would think Ireland would be the first to go IMO
Highly unlikely. Religious differences still segregate, and remember that the result of the referendum in '79 to decide whether or not to leave the UK resulted in 98.7% of them wanting to stay. That's not a made up statistic, either. It really was that high.

Scotland on the other hand, could gain from leaving the UK, as they have oil to sustain them, but then.. God.. what would happen to that country when it ran out? It's a pretty miserable place as it is, I can't bear to think what a hell-hole it would be with no money around. =P

I doubt the USA will break up. It has a lot of problems, but the sheer size of the country and the thinly-spread population means that any kind of organised rebellion is unlikely. The states are not likely to secede from the union because now there is a traditional precedent, and they'd have too much to lose.

Having said all that, I know very little about America, ask me in a year once I've completed my course on US politics, then I'll give you a more informed opinion.

Be careful not to confuse the national debt with the fiscal deficit.

Hey, everything that has a beginning has an end right?

It can take a while...but in the end everything falls apart whether we're talking about companies, states or uranium. So suppose the US won't fall apart in 2010. Think the US will be around forever then? You can wish it... sure... but Time doesn't grant any wishes, it wrecks em.

Well you've only got 7 months left, so you'd better hurry up about it!
