I believe it's called 'Borderlands'.

I could never understand this obsession with multiplayer. Roleplaying is entirely the wrong kind of genre for that sort of thing. The dialogue and moral choices for a start. You'd inevitably get separated at some point if each player-character was given free rein. If not, the arguements would ensue over what road to take.

Games like Fallout and Oblivion are supposed to be enjoyed on your lonesome, I think. That's what worries me about Bioshock 2's multiplayer. Okay, it's buolt into the story to an extent, but couldn't you just mod, say..Counter-Strike or something to include plasmids? You're not going to be paying attention to the art-deco styling and wonderful dialogue when you're 'fragging', are you?
There are countless games built for that sort of thing from the bottom up.

You'd have to play with friends or 99% of all small children thinking that they are ultra-lulzy trolls would go into VATS and not leave until you swear at them and gtfo.

God no.

I'd hate it.

I relish the lonely, solitary calm that F3 gives me, having a buddy along would utterly break the immersion for me.

Competitive multiplayer would work about as well as an underwater cup of tea.

But placing a certain number of players in the Capitol Wasteland and allowing them to follow the narrative together would expand the experience.

Bethesda's 'BRINK' looks promising.

I just want co-op...not any other multiplayer, and the only way co-op would be bad is if you played with an idiot who dident cooperate with you. For all you guys talking about how it would break your immersion, no..it wouldent. Maybe if you played it with some random person but im talking playing it with say your best friend or w.e..someone who you know isnt gonna do something randomly retarded. Just because you may not be able to find someone who wouldent be fun to play co-op with..doesnt mean that co-op as a whole is a bad idea....just means your friends arent the most agreeable sort. Besides its not like if this ever became a reality it would be the only way to play the game...im sure if Bethesda did a co-op type thing it would simply be an option of how to play your game..so it wouldent destroy your experience to simply say " no thanks *clicks single player*". Some of you are getting a bit to harsh towards this idea in an almost luaghably immature way.

I actually however believe Fallout 3 would be interesting online. I mean imagin it could be like a Gaia world thing except it be a little more adult appropriate. It would be the Fallout 3 Wasteland except you could talk to others who travel the Wasteland. And it could be something like Halo almost where you can respawn when you die. I realize that it would kill the thought of dying in Fallout 3 but it would make an online improvement. I have thought of ways they could make Fallout 3 a very fun online multiplayer game. First off, how cool would it be to be something other than a human being. Play as a Super Mutant or Raider or whatever the hell you want to play as. Or stay as a human being. Second, it would be very awesome to form your own clans or groups such as Raiders, they are a clan of screwed up Bikers. So it would be cool for say your XBOX Live friends could join in on your clan or something. And roam the Wasteland being something like a super force or whatever. Be a hippie group get addicted and stuff just chill and be at peace with whatever hippies think about. I'm not sure if they even think..... At least I don't think they think straight. But anyway, it would so much cooler. It would also be cool to clear out a fortress and make it your own fortress and protect it with your life. However when your offline the game could say "Sorry Player Not Available At Time Attack Later" Actually now that I read what I just wrote that sounds kind of gay, but they could fix up the words and do something about it. There's just so much they can do with an online game is what I'm trying to prove. It wouldn't kill the whole Fallout 3 world. It can improve it. I know some will say Fallout 3 is for personal experience, but I'm pretty positive that this could really pump up the franchise for Fallout and make things a lot more fun for people. I probably would never leave my XBOX again if online multiplayer was available for Fallout 3.

Reply if you wish, avoid insulting my idea. Reply with other ideas that could make this online thing work. I'm glad that you actually read this entire thing and if you speed read or just went straight to the bottom will then go back and read it.

Thanks,

- SPECIAL ED C.A.

1. Blockbuster and most other decent rental places rent for a week, 2 rentals of hardcore gaming should be enough to get a good value out of the game.

2. Blockbuster doesn't have latefees.

Let me list things I'd rather rent from blockbuster then buy:
1. I didn't buy GTA IV but played it for 8 weeks straight due to my Blockbuster Online membership
2. Also didn't buy Oblivion but still played it for 6 weeks
3. Bioshock, played it through a couple times in 4 weeks

And after all that, Fallout 3 just seems too big to rent

How much did it cost to continually rent those games! :O

Do you get a special discount for having an online membership, because at my blockbuster it would have been cheaper to buy the game than rent it for two months.
You should check instore. I gotta deal with them 45 bucks (well 39 + tax) and 2 unlimited rentals per month. Just like Gamefly or similar service without the hassle of sending them in waiting and hoping it comes. They also have a 1 game deal for 29.

wouldnt work you guys forget about VATS how would you fit VATS into it hm?
actually you just dident read all the posts. There were several ideas thrown out there on how to deal with VATS.For example, disabling it entirely seeing as how with an actual person backing you up you shouldent need the extra assistance from VATS, and another interesting one was to pause the game when one person hits VATS ..ask the other player if they want to enter VATS..and then it would be a co-op VATS shootout type thing. Both I think would be fun because it would add a whole new layer of strategy to the already very strategic idea of co-op. Besides, even if you hated it just go back to playing single player, it wouldent kill anyone to simply have the co-op/multiplayer OPTION. Keyword being OPTION, as in, you dont need to touch it with a 50 foot pole if you dont want to. I dont expect Bethesda to ever have an official co-op thing, but if they did it certainly would not replace single player, so all of you that are agaisnt this idea really have no room to argue. I do however have hopes that a modder out there will perfect this idea and make it a reality.

I do see your point but I am just saying it would get kind of annoying having to pause the game every time you want to go into VATS. Of course taking VATS out entirely will solve that problem right off the bat but then I don't think Fallout 3 would have that Fallout 3 feel then. These are the problems I am worried about. Oh and by the way there has been talk that the person who made the Oblivion Multiplayer is working on a Fallout 3 Multiplayer but there is no talk about a release date. My guess is not for a very long time.

Ehhh I like the whole isolation of fallout. It'd be cool, but I would not partake in the shenanigans. I wish they'd get a decent auto-aim system, or ironsights or something.

An interesting concept, but it'd have to be tested to work properly. Though it would be weird to jump in some person's game if you were evil and blew up Megaton only to find it nice and happy with everyone wanting to kill you.

If Fallout 3 had the capability to do it, I could mod it to work quite well. My Reborn mod + co-op = heaven. Just LAN would be good enough for me, then me and my brother could scour the wasteland together, sharing ammo and equipment.

Mods have been created so that Oblivion has multiplayer. It works alright and it's quite fun. I killed somebody by causing them to hit a bunch of guards with a spell. Seeing as Fallout 3 uses the same engine it would be possible but difficult, especially with VATS.
you avatar keeps me amused

Your right, it would be pretty annoying to pause it every time to go into VATS, but personally I would be having way to much fun being able to play co-op to really care lol. Also with the taking it out completly idea, yea that would deffinetly change the original feel of fallout 3, but thats not totally bad...maybe it would be an even better feel? I do of course realise that it is just as possible for this idea to be butchered and ruin the fallout experience, I simply just think the idea of roaming the wastelands with a friend, surviving together, getting tactical, would be soooo fun. If it could be made to work nicely lol.

That's true, it would ruin the loneley feeling of the game, but i think it will also create another feeling of companionship.

after all those hours in a depressed lonely world you could need a buddy to cheer you up, so why not have your buddy in the game?
