I have just finished playing Fallout 3, and as I write this the credits are rolling on the screen next to me, but I'm sitting here wondering what all the hype was about, I thought the game was pretty dull, it had some decent parts and the first few initial sections were quite interesting but after about halfway through I lost intrest in the game. Compared to Oblivion, Fallout 3 was a waste of my time.
I was just wondering though, did i miss somthing?
And what do you think was better Fallout 3 or Oblivion?

Morrowind was the best!

Playing it with the mod that fixes the shitty combat made it go way up in my book.

NOW I AM ITS SLAVE!

Fallout 3. Oblivion bored me quickly. Also, Fallout 3 had a very good atmosphere about it. The DLC's weren't that good, however. *Stares at Anchorage and Zeta*

Iunno, I enjoy both of them equally.

Actually, paying closer attention to the pic... Not sure if that is actually Fallout 3...
or it could be a mod.
Yep, is a mod.

Come on, again? We had this topic for like... a hundred times?
I am not meaning to offend you, but you could just write your impression, with detailed reasoning in those other threads.

I'd have to say Fallout 3, it unveiled a genre that I always wanted to play on that scale in that way, yea it had its problems but it could really get me deep into fantasy and open my imagination.

Oblivion was of course the next Elder Scrolls and Morrowind is one of my favourite RPG's, I expected more from it and was deeply dissapointed by what I felt was depth in comparison to Morrowind.

fallout 3 wins hands down.. although there were similar aspects, the whole apocalypse and survival aspect appealed to be much more.... looting and collecting things was really entertaining unlike oblivion

Fallout 3.

I really enjoyed Morrowind, but never got too far into the main quest. I have a friend who played it for weeks and never even delivered the package you get when you first enter the game (That starts the main quest). By the time he decided to get on with it, he found he had dropped the package somewhere, and forgot where.

Oblivion.

I like the post apocalyptic setting a lot, and I thought it was done well in Fallout 3, but the gameplay kinda killed it for me. The guns handled like shit, and V.A.T.S seemed like a lazy way to try and hide it, on top of that was how I was never really "surviving" the Wasteland, I had a ton of ammunition, weaponry and first aid. The difficulty setting didn't change much either, it just made it even more unrealistic by enemies taking more damage to kill, yet reacting to each bullet like it did nothing until the last square disappears and they realise they just got shot 100 times. The exploration was great, but I'd be exploring in dread for the next time I see an enemy, not because it was scary like it should've been, but because the gameplay was awful. Oblivion wasn't much better in terms of combat, but at least when that was released I didn't give as much of a shit, and I still don't because the melee combat is quite humorous.

See, when I played Oblivion for the first time, i couldn't get into it.

When i played Fallout 3 for the first time, i immediately got hooked into it.

Which made me think, "wait, this is essentially the same thing as Oblivion; why didn't I like that?"

So I went back and played Oblivion again, and guess what?

I love that now, too.

So without Fallout 3, I would never have appreciated Oblivion. So I owe Fallout more.

Healthier DLC flow
I have no idea what that's supposed to mean.
a better stream of dlc.
Oblivion had the castles and the land of madness.
Fallout had the aliens, the pitt, anchorage, broken steel and point lookout.
they just had more and in a quicker sucession.

Fallout 3 due primarily to the vast VAST amounts of secret bonuses to exploring. Like the letters between various characters, and the datalogs, and the sidequests. I realize that Oblivion had similar items but oblivion took itself a little too seriously whereas fallout had a sense of humor about its presentation and interjected a silliness that was in sharp juxtapose to the grittiness of the wasteland. The Rock It launcher was a perfect example. I began collecting massive amounts of garden Gnomes to use as ammo because it was hilarious.

Fallout 3 is the better game if it had a sort of magic, like plasmids it would be epic.
