Has anyone heard anything about what parts of the multiple decision trees in previous Fallout games (if any) will be made canon for Fallout New Vegas? Stuff like whether Vault City joins the NCR, the dust-up between NCR and the Brotherhood of Steel in Van Buren (and don't discount the influence of Van Buren; Bethesda showed it no small bit of respect when doing the canon for Fallout 3) over Hoover Dam, stuff like that.

There's a lot that could've happened...or not happened...out West since the events of Fallout 2. It'll be interesting to see which ones get referenced in New Vegas. Any thoughts? Speculation? Yawning in utter disinterest?

I'm really interested to see how it pans out, or if it even really references FO1&2 (I hope it does, and it probably will, considering it is the same locale as FO1&2, and a lot of Black Isle/Interplay employees that worked on FO1&2 are at Obsidian making FO:NV)

Ooooo, there's a new one? And here was me thinking we were discussing a new game, New Vegas, set somewhere else with no connection to Fallout 3 beyond the same setting. Shows how much I know.

Doesn't New Vegas take place 40 some years after Fallout 2?

I'm sure they'll tie in together pretty niftily.

Setting, engine and system. Indeed, it shows.

Don't get your hopes up.

And a completely different developer. After seeing how Obsidian took the reins of KotOR2 and brought out one of the most memorable villains in gaming I've ever seen, I'm fairly certain they can do something great with New Vegas.

Yes, like how Fallout 2 was a Fallout 1 expansion pack? The game is even being made by different developers.

OT: There's not a lot of info out, but it seems that Caesar's Legion is being taken pretty closely from Van Buren.

The setting is out west... Not the D.C. wasteland. And yes, the engine and platform are the same. Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale both used the Infinity Engine and were release on PC. Are they Baldur's Gate DLC?

You obviously have no interest or knowledge in the history of the series, thus the useless reply to my post. Why are you even in this topic, if you don't know what you're talking about.

Not sure about the continuity, but there's a bunch of info over at GiantBomb [http://www.giantbomb.com/fallout-new-vegas/61-25933/]
Like this:

Obsidian has revealed that parts of the story will contain elements of the stories found in Fallout 1 and Fallout 2, but will not be in any way related to the story in Fallout 3. Electricity seems to be one of the main themes of the game, as the player may choose to supply or withhold power to various areas of Vegas using the Hoover dam or Helios One power station. Parallels may be drawn to the theme of water in Fallout 3.

I am sure it's going to rock. Especially with the added Hardcore mode.

Of course they are. They use the same engine!

(Say, how many games out there use one of the following engines: Unreal, Half-Life)

From what I've gleaned so far, it sounds a lot like Van Buren itself. That would be pretty awesome. And I can't wait for Hardcore mode.

Actually it's 3 years after :)
3 years after Fallout 3. 39 years after Fallout 2.

According to The Vault:

2077 - Great War
2161 - Fallout 1
2197 - Fallout Tactics
2241 - Fallout 2
2253 - Van Buren (cancelled)
2277 - Fallout 3
2280 - Fallout New Vegas

Ops read the 2 as a 3, :p

I hope that just for nostalgia's sake...

Harold's not dead... :(
Whether he's canonically dead or alive, he's kind of, umm...put down some roots in the Capital Wasteland. Not gonna see him out West!

Oh, I wasn't aware that the wasteland in the west was any different than the one in the east, especially after Bethesda made sure it's as similar as possible.

Keep on the engine strawman. Seems like there's plenty of morons around to clap at your effort.

Why are you even in this topic, if you don't know what you're talking about.
To prove to you you have no idea what you're talking about. Ironic, isn't it?
No. it is not ironic, furthering my belief that you are, in fact, a moron. And everyone here knows more about the game than you do, because if you actually knew a single thing about the title, you'd know it is nothing like "Fallout 3 DLC". Regardless, I now know that there is no potential for intelligent discussion to be found in you. I will bid you a good day, and would like to inform you that you will henceforth be ignored.

Back on topic...

I really need to play through FO1&2 again. I never actually finished 1, and can barely remember 2. If it's true that there are going to be throwback to the classics, I'm going to need to play them again before New Vegas is out.
