Has anyone else felt that New Vegas is effectively the same as Fallout 3 (judging by the videos) it seems the terrain is the same, the enemies seems slightly different, I just have a general opinion that the game is samey... It seems like the just took the previous games map, removed everything, kept the same terrain textures and put slightly different things into the game for example the strip.

And also I the guns look alright, but some of them seem out of place for example the Colt 45. it just seemed... weird...

Hopefully I'm wrong and the game exceeds my expectations and is totally different from Fallout 3 but I wish they would show some more detailed footage but at the minute Its just not interesting me.

Maybe I should hit up Fallout 3 and go for the last few achievements maybe that make me remember why I loved the previous game and that I clocked over a couple hundred hours on the game with 3 profiles.

Yea, to me it just looks like a DLC. 'Cause all I saw was, like you said, new weapons and slightly different enemies.

Yeah, it was the first thing I noticed when screens started coming out. I instantly lost interest, it's just FO3 but with a tinge of brown everywhere instead of green.

Couldn't be less disappointed, or interested.

well to be honest i wouldnt mind if it were just fallout 3 with a different map, i'd still enjoy it.
but i think i like most people hope that they bring something new to the series aswell.

But it has Grenade launching machine gun things, and people who look like those baddies from Killzone, what more do you want?

In all seriousness, I share the exact same sentiment. The only video content I've seen so far makes the game look like a big DLC package, and nothing else. But on the other hand I haven't really seen that much in-game footage, so hopefully my opinion will be different once I get the game, or see footage that convinces me otherwise.

Yup, just like how MW2 is basically the same as CoD4, and how Uncharted 2 is basically the same as Uncharted. And how Fallout 2 is basically the same as Fallout.

What's the problem, exactly? A dev can't use an engine twice?

And also I the guns look alright, but some of them seem out of place for example the Colt 45. it just seemed... weird...
It's a 9mm Browning HiPower, not a .45.

It's a sequel? How the hell could a Fallout game look anything other than a wasteland?

Well, I'm excited for it because, since Fallout 3 came out, I've played almost non-stope, no more than a week or 2 week as a break. So, a similar game in a new place, well, thats quiet alright with me.

I'm perfectly happy with the idea of an Expansion Pack Sequel. It wasn't broken, so there was no need to fix it. You were expecting what, an RTS?

Of course it looks the fucking same, its the same engine for chrissakes.

And you obviously haven't been paying any fucking attention to the changes in the SPECIAL, the skills, the speech system, the weapon system, the shooting system, the melee system, introduction of the re-introduction of the reputation system, the hundreds of ways to complete the main story, the complete removal of 'essential' characters and most children, and the weapon modding, and then the whole Hardcore Mode idea.

Get your facts straight before you dribble crap like this again.

But this time it's being written by people who have a clue how dialog should work in a game.

I'm neither hyped, nor overly interested. However I'm curious, since Obsidian Entertainment is involved... I like their RPG titles, even though I occasionally rip at them.

And the ammo system, and the DT mechanic, and the crafting.

Thank you Spoony. :3

What WrongSprite said also makes sense.

Well Obsidian said they were tightening up the real time shooting controls. If that's true it'd easily be enough to set the game apart for me, as I felt the combat somewhat lacking in 3. More places to explore and more fun shooty times would be instant win for me.

Its a sequel what did you expect?
the sequels i have seen just added new features and that is what they should be
if the developers of a sequel are going to totally remake a game might as well give it a different name
speaking of which, halo reach doesn't look that different from the other halos
which were fun

It doesnt look like itll suck, because id does look exactly like Fallout 3, but then again, it looks exactly like Fallout 3. Ive spent hundreds of hours on that game already. I dont wanna be doing the exact same thing again with new weapons. Im burned out on that game. I have no plans on getting the new game.
