Yea, to me it just looks like a DLC. 'Cause all I saw was, like you said, new weapons and slightly different enemies.
You can say that with Fable 3. So don't be stupid, it has hardcore and a whole new story, not a short 5 hour story.

Nah, they've said that it's more like a spin-off than a continuation of the main series. This is basically in the sense that it's not "Fallout 4".
It's not Fallout 4, yes, but it's still a legit part of the series as a whole. All of the events are canon, none of it will be contradicting to any of the pre-established storyline, etc.

What?

Just... what?

Here I was, under the impression that you didn't like it being so similar to F3. Now you're saying that it will "remain faithful" to the series with more of the stuff we all liked from F3?!
Look at my previous post, you will understand.

It's both a good and bad thing, really. Bad they didn't use their own engine. etc, good because it worked for F3.

No, I don't understand. That's why I'm asking. O great font-of-all-knowledge, how about you enlighten me.

Your OP states in a negative light that it looks almost identical to F3. But your above post states that the similarity to F3 is a good thing. You aren't making sense, and you clearly didn't do the research.

I think in a lot of ways it is going to be "samey." Is that really such a bad thing?

There are some differences though like the strip is very different than, say, downtown DC or Megaton and the environment actually has living plants. The enemies are largely different and, supposedly, the additional party members are actually going to be worth a damn this time. Also, new weapons and mods for them, mele V.A.T.S., and hardcore mode.

But yeah, it seams like they just "tweaked" it a bit and are giving us more of what we loved last time. I'm okay with that. I love Super Mario Galaxy 2 because it's just a refined version of the first and I'm hoping for something similar from Fallout.

I hope it's something we can all enjoy!

I don't mind at all if it is like FO3. If everyone hasn't noticed everyone who likes shooters have been playing the same one for like 10 years. Call of Duty is all the same game but no one seems to care.

Lets see:
-Same Interface
-Same Combat System
-Same Pip Boy (I think)
-Same dialogue system

Yep, it's pretty much the same.
Do you not read what other people say?

Obsidian is tightening up the firearm and melee combat, there is a new companion interaction interface, the dialogue will be good this time around, there will be the oh-so-fancy hardcore mode, and they took the four or five outrageous super weapons that Fallout 3 had and made awesome, explosive weapons the norm.

It sounds damn sexy to me.

Oh yeah, of course. I didn't mean it would be non-canon, just as any proper spin-off shouldn't be; it just means that it doesn't affect the storyline of the main series.

Interestingly enough though, not much of the storylines from each game directly affects those in later games anyway, mostly due to the large time-gaps between them. They're sequels in the same sense that the Indiana Jones movies are sequels.

Guys, there are a few pictures and a five-minute demo. I don't think it's safe to judge yet.
They added tons of new features, a new world that is the same size as the Capital Wasteland, new characters, new quests, double the amount of weapons that were in FO3, a new and improved dialogue system, a completely different story, additional game modes, weapon mods, as well as all the changes to followers, character development, etc. Now, what were you saying about DLC?

Well, I rather enjoyed Fallout 3 except for one thing, so if New Vegas is basically the same thing minus that one thing, I'd be so happy.

And that one thing is that it kept freezing constantly once your save file got big on the PS3. Of course, maybe that was my fault for just buying it cheap from an Amazon lightning deal without doing any research first. I won't make that mistake again though.

Of course it's not the same. It has the Barrett .50 cal.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's not a Barrett. It's a P... something. I don't remember, but I think it's like a crazy PSG knockoff. It's not bullpup, and it's only got 8 .50 BMG rounds, not 10.

Still a .50 sniper rifle, though. :p

I'm really getting sick of people complaining that "it should be DLC." Have you ever tried to make DLC?
A lot of stuff is being added under the surface, as has already been mentioned. To do that kind of tweaking to the core F3 game would require a massive download, or an entire disc worth of data so they went ahead with making it its own game.
Think of it this way: Fallout 3 is Left 4 Dead, and Fallout Vegas is Left 4 Dead 2. Maybe it could have been an expansion, but from a technical standpoint that would be a lot harder with all the new stuff, so packaging it as a new game is simpler and allow new people to get in on it without needing the first iteration.

Well, there's not that much footage out there, and although the game looks done, there's still plenty of time for refinement.

Plus, I liked Fallout 3, a lot, so having more of it wouldn't exactly be terrible.
Well, took my words then, didn't you?

i think they are just refining and tweaking the formula and you know what ? that is okay i mean fallout 4 is probably gonna turn up mid to late next year so if this doesnt take your fancy wait for F4 instead
