So? Fallout 2 was essentially the same as Fallout 1, they even used the same palletes! It's the story, locations and characters that matter.

I have to say I was underwhelmed by the trailer. Just doesn't look like FO3. Call me a bad Fallotu fan, but I haven't played the first two and it just doesn't look as apocalypse-y is FO3. And I think after FO3 everyone, like me, was expecting another immersive destroyed wasteland, rather than Vegas with more rust and less people. I am dissapoint.
And I liked the wasteland in Fallout 3 because of how it was all, after exploration, clearly WAS habitated lush green American land. The Mojave in NV doesn't really tick any boxes for me because, isn't the area surrounding Vegas a desert anyway?
But I guess I'll try it, and I have a feeling I'll be pleasently surprised.

If it is, GREAT! Fallout 3 kicked ass and with some new guns and better writing, New Vegas will kick even more ass.

And don't even think of trying to respond with some kind of "Black Isle was great, but Bethesda screwed it up" type of thing. I get where these people are coming from, but it's getting to the level of your 80 year old grandpa talking about how much fun he had as a kid hitting a ring with a stick.

I'm sure they'll make it look at least a little better.

And no, I do not think it's Fallout 3 with Vegas dropped in. Obsidian has some damn good writing (but I just love how they fuck up endings). Plus, the people who are making New Vegas include a lot of the people who made the original Fallout and Fallout 2. Also, Fallout 2 was very, very similar to the first Fallout.
It may look similar to Fallout 3, but that won't stop it from being it's own game with it's own high points.

I personally am very hyped. I've enjoyed Fallout, Fallout 2 and loved Fallout 3 to death. I've already pre-ordered New Vegas and can't wait till it comes out.

It's a sequel? How the hell could a Fallout game look anything other than a wasteland?

FO3 needs more equipment/weapons more polished skill/preks/levels and a revamped VATS system, if they did half of those it will be good if not.... more swill to shovel....

Has anyone else felt that New Vegas is effectively the same as Fallout 3 (judging by the videos) it seems the terrain is the same, the enemies seems slightly different, I just have a general opinion that the game is samey... It seems like the just took the previous games map, removed everything, kept the same terrain textures and put slightly different things into the game for example the strip.
Yeah, but it excited me since I ran out of stuff to do in Fallout 3 and still want to do more...

Kinda on that subject, look at Halo. Halo 2 and 3 looked just like the first, yet people love them...

I think the atmosphere and story will be vastly different. We should just wait and see.

Actually, Josh Sawyer explained somewhere on the Bethesda Forums that the textures used in those video's where going to be improved. The same question was asked there and he basically assured us you won't see as much recycled textures in the shipping version. For example, the Super Mutants seen in some of those video's were just placeholders.

And you obviously haven't been paying any fucking attention to the changes in the SPECIAL, the skills, the speech system, the weapon system, the shooting system, the melee system, introduction of the re-introduction of the reputation system, the hundreds of ways to complete the main story, the complete removal of 'essential' characters and most children, and the weapon modding, and then the whole Hardcore Mode idea.
And the ammo system, and the DT mechanic, and the crafting.

Thank you Spoony. :3
Yes Nitty. I'm just sick of these ignorant tools clamouring about how "Its just the same game D:". Do your research, read about the new features, and shut the fuck up.
That and it is a bloody sequel. If it didn't carry over a lot from Fallout 3, I'd be disappointed. I want to continue dicking around in the wasteland. Yes, I've also taken note of the new systems. I like the idea of improvements instead of complete fucking overhauls...

I wrote it looked basically the same, you made the assumption that, that was a bad thing, now stfu.

Hopefully I'm wrong and the game exceeds my expectations and is totally different from Fallout 3 but I wish they would show some more detailed footage but at the minute Its just not interesting me.

Uh huh. It's pretty obvious that you really meant by this that you were really happy about the game.

Does it even look like I need to read between the lines?

Uhhh...... DURRRRRR?!?!?!?!!?!?

This is what I have been trying to say for fucking ages, but when I do, I get bogged down by fanbois who think that just because it's Fallout 3 BUT ORANGE!, it's a new fucking game! It's an over-glorified DLC.

You know, at first, when I was looking at the trailers, I thought, hmmm... This seems nice. Maybe they will fix all the bugs in the first one. Maybe they might fix the graphical system. But no! It's just Fallout 3 in a shiny ORANGE package.

I mean, I really wouldn't mind the Fallout engine, but what I don't fucking get is why they must make a new fucking game for it if there are no major updates. Like the Sims 3. Ooooh! They allowed you to make your Sims FAT! It's so cutting edge!

But as I also said before, who knows? Maybe it will be super-special-awesome. All I'm saying, is that at this point, it looks like the same shit, just in the colors of a carrot instead of a potato...

Well, I can tell who has only played Fallout 3. New Vegas is the Fallout 3 engine handled by the same team that made the first two Fallouts. If they still remember how to write, that means humor, awesome characters, and a decent plot, which Fallout 3 lacked. Ya know, elements that don't exactly show up in screenshots.

It's FO3 in a different environment, with a different storyline, with different characters, weapons, enemies, and surprises.

I'm sure it'll be plenty fun, but I wish that they worked on combat animations a little more...The game looks great until something tries to run or shoot in third person.
