Clockwork orange is obvious, but animal factory was a great movie as well. Not many knows about the movie adaptation but it's pretty good.

I'm not looking for your forgiveness, you don't even have an apology...

If you want to question my opinions about a book or film you clearly don't understand, do so without resorting to such abhorent flaming behaviour.

If you can't handle that, I suggest you fuck off back to youtube.
:) dont understand... wow... had to do a 20 page essay on it... got a C but i really do understand it
So you claim to understand it, wrote a 20 page essay on it and the best possible critique of it you have is...

its about a bunch of near naked kids slapping eachother for fun of it. and! the author was a rapist!
Like, I said... Fuck off back to youtube...

Just thought of this from the "Films that are better than books thread." [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.158219?page=1] With all the threads about bad movie adaptations of books and good books made into bad movies, a post this question to the members of The Escapist: What excellent books were adapted into incredible films?

I posted most of these before, but here's mine:

Lord of the Rings
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Maltese Falcon
Gone with the Wind
A Clockwork Orange
I'm American, so the book A Clockwork Orange was a little hard to pick up at first (due to the British slang), but yeah, it was still a very good story, and the movie was excellent too.

i really dont get this whole youtube thing since i prefer megavideo or that one beginning with v. but yes that was the extent of my critisim, what i said still stands. you can say the first movie was good but you are the very first person i have ever met or spoken to on the internet with a enough grasp of the book to say that the second movie was "good". this is because it was AWFUL. i wowever...respect... your opinion now move on im sorry for my crazy out burst.

what about One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest? I haven't read the book yet but I got told it was very good, and I loved the movie.

Lord of the Rings, I read all three books and was disappointed.

I guess I already had my own preferences though being a heavy fan of the films.

Yeah, it's galaxy - have you read The Long, Dark, Tea-Time of the Soul by Douglas Adams as well? I'd recommend it if you haven't.

The Secret of Nimh

I was first introduced to Nimh by the godawful direct-to-video sequel, Timmy to the Rescue, which is like a crappy disney singing...thing. When I first watched the original, the owl scared the CRAP out of me.

I'm not sure, I know I've read at least the first 2 books in the series.

Princess Bride
Where Eagles Dare
Howl's Moving Castle
The Bourne Identity (I like the other two movies, but they don't follow the books at all)
