Far Cry 3

I've been replaying Far Cry 2 and while it's not great it is a good time. It got me thinking about Far Cry 3. FC3 is confirmed to be in the works and rumored to be in full production.

Do you want FC3 to happen?
What would be your initial interest level in FC3?
What would you like to see in FC3 to have it improve on FC2?

I think Ubi missed a lot of opportunities with FC2. I think FC3 needs co-op (the vehicles were begging for it), improved AI, a better mission system, and to improve on the map editor by making it a mission editor also.

I don't know about the fire, but I snipe in FC2 and I've never had a problem with people hitting me from afar.

And yeah if the feel of the controls doesn't drastically improve then FC3 will pretty much be a wash.

Seriously, Far Cry 2's health system is one of the best in gaming and I would hate to see it replaced with a shitty "magically regenerating health" system.

Lol I skimmed through your post and was like "well that's mean," then I reread it.

Yes I agree. They did an interview way back with GI (back when I read GI) and they claimed they had all these awesome ideas with NPC's and how you'd interact with people and it all fell apart as development went on.

I would be happy if they just re-released FC2 but just fix all the annoying shit about it.

That game world was fantastic. I would pay £39.99 JUST to have what Far Cry 2 should have been.

I actually loved that game. But they should fix the damn guard checkpoint thing, it got so annoying when I would clear one, then come back 2 mins later to find it fully armed again.

Also, when they say open world sandbox, then make it open world sandbox. There were so many times when I wanted to get to a vantage point like a cliff or something and couldn't because the game wouldn't allow it. There was alot of missions where being able to go up high would have made it great, especially if you wanted to play the sniper type of killer. A climb function was needed.

Those are really the only two things the game needed, if it would ahve had both of those it would have been absolutely perfect in my opinion.

I wish that guard points don't respawn every minuet.
I wish people could not see you as easily. I had that problem while sniping from miles away that they would always know where I am.

I never thought about it but I agree. It has kept me on my toes. I would perhaps like them to make syringes more scarce, combined with scraping the gun rusting system, which could make for the kind of scavenging feel that I think would fit with the African setting very well.

I wish people could not see you. I had that problem while sniping from miles away that they would always know where I am.

I snipe in this game and I haven't had that problem. If you want to stealth then upgrade your Dart gun. I just go as far as I can back and snipe everything that can explode first, throw a molitov in front of me so I don't get run over by a car, then kill everything. It's not stealth, but it's still sniping.

HAH! I remember the first time listening to the Jackal, god that guy talks fast.

Honestly, I think this is one of the few games where I think we should leave story alone. There are so many things that need to be fixed on the technical and gameplay side, that if they got those things done then it would be an amazing game even without a fantasic story.

If they allow me to fly in airplanes and stuff, then I'll be happy. If not, I'll give this game a pass, because I really wanted to fly everywhere in Far Cry 3.

Other than that, I like Far Cry 2, except for the fact that enemies had X-ray vision once you were in combat.

Airplanes would probably be REALLY hard to do from a technical perspective but I share your pain.

What would make me play Far Cry 3?

At least three quarters of the reviews agreeing that the stealth ACTUALLY WORKS.

Then I would buy it, no problem.

Ubisoft has a habit of making a crappy first game (FC1 wasn't theirs) and a good second game. So yeah, I'd like to see FC3, but do expect it with heavy improvements.

What I'd like to see changed are two main elements - story (and voice acting for that matter) and repetitiveness (outposts/roaming AI).

More specifically, instead of roaming people in cars with a single thought in mind being "kill player on sight for no reason and at all costs", put wild animals (not all bloody herbivores) instead throughout the wilderness (which is atm 90% empty), with a few rarely straying near the road.

Make outposts more outposty -ie people there don't just shoot everything on sight and they don't just abandon their posts to relentlessly chase you to the other end of Africa just cause you drove by. And completely fix AI for that matter, it's way too simple atm.

Once you hit a block, it stays down, or everything being closer together. And fix the shooting, it was pretty wonky...that's all I've got at the moment, but I'm sure there's more.
