I've just finished reading To Kill a Mockingbird, and I have to say that Atticus Finch is the most awesome individual that I ever did see.
Yes, he outstrips Drizzt Do'Urden, FitzChivalry Farseer, Cadderly Bonaduce, Sam Vimes, Terry Pratchett's Death and even Granny Weatherwax.
Even if it's remotely true for the other characters, you are commiting a blasphemy now.

But you can redeem yourself by killing some curry.

Frank Owen from The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists. Also, Atticus Finch and Ford Prefect, as mentioned above.

Bartleby the Scrivener. I can totally imagine Ben Stein playing this guy on TV or in a movie.

Jesus.
I'm sorry, but Jesus kicks ass.
I mean, he's one of the most ancient, truly 1337* characters in literature.
Being the son of the only God, water into wine, having an ancient auto-phoenix ability, 'n what not.
You don't have to be a Christian to appreciate that aspect of the religion.
Jesus>Sephiropth.

Sure you want to go with Jesus? Characters listed here are works of fiction. You might be implying something... :)

As for me... Way too many good ones to choose from.

Great....
One person thinks I'm being uber-Christian, and another thinks I'm being athiest.
That pretty much sums up all religious interpretation.
