Shouldn't this thread be in off topic discussion? Also how can we have answers that are /thread worthy when its about personal favourites? If the OP said "what is the best comic book character" then it would make more sense.

I think Deadpool gets most of his fame from Cable, personally.
Alright Cable is my favourite character, but even I wouldn't say that.

Cable & Deadpool was one of the greatest series ever, it combined the slightly stale but still awesome stereotyped nineties anti hero Cable with the irreverent and funny but lacking in strong plot Deadpool. The stories were awesome, the characters better together and the sheer amount of homo eroticism was hilarious.

My favourite characters would be Cable and Ares from the MU, Cassidy from Preacher (I love phonetically written dialogue) and the Comedian from Watchmen

I almost put Cassidy. I was so torn when his plot twist hit. I've been so conflicted about a character, if it'd been any other I would have hated him.

I just couldn't bring myself to accept those flaws, I guess I'd end up making the same mistake being used by him if he was real. I also really began to detest Jesse Custer and his girlfriend after a while.

when I was younger it was the Punisher, hands down. He was ultra-marine-level hard-core tough, but had a method to the madness. Now, however, I don't know. The Watchmen's blue nudie speaks to me as I am trying to mesh Buddhist and western ideals.

Still, The Punisher is most assuredly someone who influenced my ideals of "what it means to be a man" when I was younger.
Daken [Wolverines son] cut of Punisher's head, kicked his remains of a building, and now Punisher is called FRANKIN-CASTLE. Yeah.

Ok, he may not have had a long series and was spawned from a really bad crossover series but i have to go with HITMAN. The guy PUKED ON BATMAN! And LIVED! There has to be points for that! How about him wiping out a zombie horde in the Gotham Zoo?

That was actually pretty awesome, because as a reader you keep thinking Frank's gotta trick up his sleeve. It was also quite realistic, super badass as he is he pretty much went up against a wolverine style character, which is practically suicide for a human.

It doesn't say anywhere that they have to be Super Hero comics, and I don't like them anyway so...

Johnny The Homicidal Maniac.

Yeah, I always wondered " Punisher is human, right, he goes against super heros and villains every day, why hasn't his ass been handed to him on a silver platter?" Who would have thought Daken would be the one to do it... I always guessed Cyclops. WAIT! Anti-Venom is with Punisher right now, but Daken already ripped him apart. CONTINUITY ERROR!

He is meant to have batman crazy level of preparedness.

But also because if you have a costume you become magically more powerful.

If you've been reading the latest Ares (which you if get the chance its fantastic) there's these soldiers called the Deadly Shades trained by Ares, they are ex-army and special forces, H.A.M.M.E.R. agents. A reader accurately pointed out that Hawkeye/Ronin or Bucky-Cap would easily dispatch these characters like these in a comic, despite being powerless humans as well. When in real life Ronin would dropped down doing his martial arts stuff only to be perforated with M4 fire.

Just one? I used to really like Frank Castle, Dredd and Double D the most. All of these I was into looooong before there were movies about em, the movies save one actually made me want to do bad things to people who use a license and fuck over the source material.
