I was pretty fond of the styling of the drake sword (i think it was called that) you got when you shot off the dragon's tail. it did decent damage and looked really cool. i haven't seen other weapons the game has to offer because i lost momentum after encountering the capra demon.

I mostly use melee weapons and medium armor+medium shields i only use the homeward miracle and no other magic.

As to my favorite weapon i will quote myself:

The bonewheel shields of Dark Souls. I like the whole concept and the silly weapons are one of the main reasons why i prefer Dark souls to Demon Souls.

I actually kinda like the regular longsword for it attack pattern. It might be vanilla, but it just has the best combination of range and speed for my tastes.

And for certain enemies, you just can't beat a good spear and shield. It might be slow, but it really gets the job done.

I do like spears and halberds at times, but I also enjoy the greatsword that I had the Giant Blacksmith forge out of Sif's soul.

I like the Drake Sword for pure hitting power, and I'm using it presently. It's a little ugly though, and totally does not fit my character thematically. I prefer the attack styles of spears and halbreds...I like crouching behind my shield, poking away from safety, and just wearing foes down. Whereas the Drake Sword is a little more swashbuckling and risky. Still, spears are just doing rubbish damage at this point, so the Drake Sword ends up being ultimately safer at the moment until I find a better one.

So it seems the Drake Sword is a popular choice and for those who use two handers how do you get over the whole not being able to block as well?

The Halberd served me very well through a large portion of the game once I upraded it into a Raw Halberd.

I'm also very partial to the Gravelord Greatsword which I remember switching as my main weapon when I managed to finally defeat Sif with it and which then carried me through the rest of the game.

It's interesting to see how different a playthrough can become when you experiment with specialising in different weapons.

The drake sword will do barely any damage against people with upgraded armor or lategame enemies though.

At the moment, I favour the katana found in Blighttown for its superb power attack. For backup, I have a heavy crossbow (which I used to kill the gaping dragon), a gargoyle halberd and a black knight shield (which made Quelaag a cakewalk).

I've been rolling with the black knight greataxe for the longest time. Just can't get enough of its range, and it has good scaling.

Ever since I leveled up my Strength and Dexterity to wield the Black Knight Sword I nicked from that guy I incinerated under the bridge in the Undead Burg we've been inseparable! The only downsides are that it takes a while before you can get a hit in, which I've sort of adapted to, and I've only found one piece of Twinkling Titanite thus far (in Anor Londo).
Might try to look for a weapon which does damage a bit faster and is easier to upgrade but I'm not in much of a hurry.

well in undead burg in the tower that led to the tauros demon in one of the barrels on the top floor is a crystal lizard that drops a twinkling titanite...just so you know

I got the Black Knight Sword in a early random drop on my first playthrough. All heavy attacks were cripplingly slow, so I had to get used to substituting a two-handed normal swing for it instead, but two of those was usually all it took to defeat anyone, and it broke guards easily. The hard part was landing a hit against an agile and wary opponent, but it was an easy and fast win whenever I took someone by surprise.

The Balder Side Sword (also referred to as the 'Baller Swag Sword' for good reason) is an excellent PvE weapon for dex builds or magicians.
Its moveset is similar to that of the Claymore, it's light, scales well with dex / good speed for enchants, greater range than a longsword, and consumes less stamina per hit. On top of that it only requires 10 STR and 14 DEX to wield.
But its popularity comes from it's excellent moveset mostly.

It's a rare random drop from Balder Knights (the guys in the undead parish). If you get the gold serpent ring and stack some humanity to increase your item discovery chance, you can get one pretty easily.

Depends on what build, I guess.

As a tank I wreaked havoc with my fully upgraded Black Knight Sword and Stone Greatshield. Quelaag's Furysword was pretty sweet, too.

As a mage, nothing beats Dark Bead.

Drake Sword turns everything up until Sen's Fortress into easy mode, I avoid using it, to be honest.

Moonlight Greatsword is probably my favourite specialised weapon (Int Based).
Claymore is the best Greatsword for any play build, as long as you meet the pre-reqs.
Uchigatana is like my favourite of the katanas.
Balder Swag Sword is like the Uchi, but a better move set, albeit slightly slower.

I'm rocking a Halberd+10 and a Zweihander+5 right now. The Halberd's good all around, and the Zweihander is the thing I use when enemies just refuse to die.

My favourite weapon would have to be the Black Knight Greatsword (the smaller version). I enjoy playing the game with a sword and kite shield combo.

I also like the Silver Knight Straight Sword but it's damage output is just too low for me to consider using it for New game +.
