Current "favorite" Gays have to deal with straight romance in stuff, but if a straight guy gets hit on by a gay alien in some big name game, its a bad game!
I think that's just the awkwardness of being hit on by someone you aren't attracted to, period. Nothing about "bad games" or anything (unless you mean "bad" in the sense of "I don't play games to have to deal with things I find awkward in real life").
I've had ugly chicks hit on me, and I've had gay guys hit on me, and I felt weirded out by both.
Well, I was reffering to the people freaking out about the gay thing in Mass Effect 3.
As for being hit on by the sex you dont like, its not wrong (but is rude) to maybe get a bit bothered by it, but there are people who will do terrible things sometimes if they got hit on by say,the same sex (and were straight). Or atleast say so, which is still bad.
I know you referring to ME3, that's what my point was: People don't want to play a game that reminds them of awkward things from real life (In this case, being hit on by people you aren't attracted to). Or at least, most people don't. Personally, I play video games as a form of escapism (Related, I think I just figured out why this magazine is called "The Escapist", damn I'm dumb). In video games I'm a perfect looking person who can pull off amazing feats, speak flawlessly, convince others of the validity of my point of view, and I get to fuck a hot member of the opposite sex at the end of the day. In real life, I'm a below-average looking person who doesn't do shit, trips over himself when explaining anything complex, and who only attracts the interest of gay men and ugly (sometimes on the outside, sometimes on the inside, sometimes both) women.
I can understand why someone wouldn't want a gay alien hitting on them in a video game, because I (personally) get enough of that shit in my normal day.
Honestly, I thought that the guy a while back saying he wanted a "no gay" option in ME3 wasn't that far off. He phrased it terribly, but I would like to be able to at least toggle an option ahead of time during character creation that establishes my sexuality, so that I don't have to be hit on by the same sex if I don't want to be.
EDIT: Didn't mention this originally, but: I don't think for a second (from an idealistic perspective) that only straight men should have this option. Ideally, gay men who feel similarly (but in reverse) should get the same choice. Realistically, that wouldn't happen, because straight people outnumber gay people, and companies only care about the large market share (which they should, really). But morally speaking, I don't think for a second that I'm different from a gay guy with the opposite problem as me. He should get the same "no straight" option as I get.
