Mithra, the race from FFXI.

Since cats and women seem to go hand-in-hand for everything, the MMO I play happens to have a half-cat/half-woman hybrid race. There are males, but in their society, the men are basically treated as women in Afghanistan are, so there's only one male Mithra in the whole game that you ever get to see.

Adorable, isn't it?

The moogles from Final Fantasy, specifically the ones from FF:TA2 and FFIX (though only in-game for the latter, ignore the concept art). I... have a bit of a soft spot for cute things, and those lil' fellas make it pretty high up there on the list.

...also, the doll moogles in Kingdom Hearts can piss off. They bug the hell out of me for whatever reason.

I'm not allowed to play Kender in our DnD games anymore. Where my friends would play a Kender and simply state "I talk his ear off for the next half hour," I would actually rapidly talk nonsense for as long as I could get away with it. That and he was a Sorcerer of all things. A Kender that can cast Arcane Mark... What joy!

Do Malkavian's count? If not then Chaos from Warhammer.

Insanity is such sweet bliss. Go figure a guy with the name 'The Madman' would think so, but atleast I'm honest about it! It's the ones that think they're sane that ya gotta watch out for. How about you? Are YOU sane? How can you tell? Hmmm?

DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?

Oh, straight up. If WoD clans/orders/tribes/etc count, then my vote shifts over to Necromancer Mage. They aren't a magic of something as trivial as death. They rule over all things that are absent.

Also, anything from Akavir. The vampire serpents are peculiar, and then we have the tiger-people, with their Half-Dragon, Half-Normal-Tiger-Dude leader guy.
Don't forget the Snow Demons and Apemen

Kender. We need more video games with kender.
Agreed. But my heart belongs to another race. "FOR THE FORSAKEN!"
The Forsaken aren't a race, they are an organization of undead.
Infact the Forsaken aren't actually forsaken they are more "Screw you master", in order for something to be forsaken it must be lost, but they were never lost in the 1st place as they left the lich king under their own newly gained free will.

hmm... hylian?
Random trivia: unlike most other phantasy works as much as I am surprised, Nintendo actually used the term race correctly when they named the Hylians. Usually they just slap on the term race instead of specie. (LOTHAR'S RACE IS AZEROTHIAN AND NOT HUMAN) (The hylians are a RACE of elves.)

Orks! Orks! Orks!
Green is best.
Orks are a specie and not a race.

As for my favirote race, I'd say the Rix from the Risen Empire (by Scott Westerfeld), bold Brazilian female cyborgs with mechanical hearts that work like a turbine... Hardly kinky.

Humans

I love stories of ordinary humans triumphing over all these magnificent, magical races and aspire to it.

To be a better warrior than a dwarf or an orc.
To be smarter than an elf or a halfling.

You're a Dragon-Kindred Half-Deity are you? Well I'm a human and I got you, ha!

Well ... I'm going to go with Felynes from the 'Monster Hunter' series.

Given the fact that I don't really like cats and getting to watch one constantly blow himself up after giving him a L Bomb + to excavate a mine after every mission is really, really funny n.n

But if you're going to go with races because I think they're awesome I'm going to go with Zerg from starcraft.

The fact that you have a creature genetically designed to do a specific task, or fdit a particular role seems like a good idea to me o.o; So Zerg get big points that way when it comes to functionality.

Plus having a unit that can cause an enemy unit to instantly die and be replaced with two parasitic Zerg units = ultimate magic/skill 'spell' there is ....

Oblivion can keep 'Finger of the Mountain' casting mages ... Zerg queen ftw when it comes to 'spells' <.<

Depends on what orcs you're talking about. In Lord of the Rings, orcs are a race of elves, not they're own species. The Uru'kai are they're own species, as they were made by Saruman.

I have to say that I like the Quarians from Mass Effect. You only meet one but she tells you much of their history and they sound pretty awesome.

The Replicators from Stargate SG-1. (Not really a race but you get what I mean.) They can essentially do anything.

The Skrulls from Marvel comics. Especially after reading the Secret Invasion mini series, thought I haven't finished it.

The Spartans from Halo. Again, not really a race as they're just altered humans but they are frigging sick.

Rainbow Road or Frappe Snowland

I like the Gorons a lot. Also the Gerudos. I was very disappointed when they weren't in Twilight Princess. (They called it the GERUDO DESERT dammit...).

For my Fantasy race (the one I mentioned earlier was Si-Fi) I'd have to say the dwarves in general, since a misplaced scottish steryo-type is the closest thing we Irish will get in order to appear in a video game.
