Favorite Final Fantasy character? Why?

That's a tough call. I like a lot of characters a lot.
I can probably narrow it down per game I've played...
Final Fantasy VI: Probably Locke... Or Edgar... Or Celes... Or Terra (godammit it had good characters)
Final Fantasy VII Rex XIII/Nanaki, with Barret as the runner up.
Final Fantasy Tactics Zalbag, with Weigraf as the runner up.
Final Fantasy IX hard one... I'd actually go with Zidane on this one with maybe Steiner as the runner up.
Final Fantasy XII Easy as hell. Gabranth with Balthier as runner up.
(This list excludes some other of the games that I've played.)
Overall favorite. I'd go with Zalbag. He was a total badass, he was an endearing character. He was just an all 'round good character.

Black Mage from FF1. That guy was just such a badass it is unbelieveable. He obviously wins the prize for best FF character ever.

Larsa from FFXII. I find him to be absolutely adorable (in a little kid kind of way, of course).
Yuna from FFX. She was pretty cool. Quiet but still strong. Didn't like her all that much in X-2 though.
Penelo from FFXII. Absolutely love her outfit and her personality's cute, even if she only has an important role for a really short time.
Rinoa gets an honorable mention just because I like her outfit. xD Her personality isn't all that great though...

Hard to say, since I've only played a couple so far. As of right now, probably either Celes or Locke from FF6...though I admit Sabin is pretty fun to play as (Bum Rush muddafucka!) and Terra won serious points with me for a certain event. Don't mess with her kids, she will fuck your shit up.
