I owned that game. Hell, I actually bought a brand new copy of it before I played FFVII. I got as far as the battle with the fused Adel-Rinoa and I still didn't understand what the hell was going on with Seifer.
What was going on with him was that he always dreamed of being a traditional fairy-tale/JRPG hero. He was inspired after reading the book in the Balamb Garden Library 'the Sorceress' Knight' and always wanted to be like the heroic knight in that story, defending the beautiful female lead from whatever evil forces assail her on her quest and live happily ever after. In other words, he wants to be the main character in a more cliched JRPG than the one he's in. He'd be happier in the Dragon-Warrior verse.

As you can probably tell it doesn't quite work out that way, his arrogance and attitude towards teamwork being two of many reasons why he could never live his dream. By the end he's just blindly following the sorceress because he has nowhere else to go, and even his closest friends abandon him.

I can't choose overall but out of the ones I've played...

Final Fantasy VII: Barret. He has a gun on his arm. I don't I need to explain further
Final Fantasy VIII: Not a big fan of this one. I don't really like any of the characters.
Final Fantasy IX: Vivi. He's just too awesome, and learning more about his origin was a high-point in the game for me.
Final Fantasy X: Auron. He's just no-nosence, which is a refreshing point of view from the other characters
Final Fantasy XII: Didn't get very far at all into this one before my PS2 fucked out, so I can't say here.
Final Fantasy XIII: Vanille. People say she's annoying and too happy for what's going on. I see a person who tries really hard to maintain a positive outlook on the situation, but you can see as the game goes on her sunny disposition lessens and everything takes it toll on her.

That makes more sense. I had a very difficult time getting the hang of that game because it was so different from the FF titles I had played up until that point (FF, II, III, IV, VI). I don't really remember using physical attacks for anything, just spamming the shit out of the GFs to win fights. Once I got to the fight with Adel and wasn't allowed to use GFs, I wound up getting screwed because I could only do 75 damage with a physical attack.

I'll give it another go around if I ever buy that PS2.

Any one. Not sure. Never played it.

Probably the main character. He's pretty cool.

Also, this thread = fail. Sorry. :(
Just no you bump a thread you think is fail.

OT: List time of games I've played

FF6: Terra/Sabin but they're all brilliant.

FFVII: Vincent/Barret/Cloud but they all have good points.

FFVIII:Zell/Irving.

FFIX: Zidane/Steiner but they were all great.

FFX: Auron all the way.

FFXII: Basch/Balthier.
