Maybe not the best, but one of the first I saw to really grip me and stay with me:

Was the first final fantasy I played, plus the music is epic.

(fingers crossed I've embedded this right)

Zero Wing.

OK, sarcasm aside, i quite liked the introduction to The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, mostly because the first level (his escape just after arriving) is actually a dream sequence, and once you're out of the dream, as you enter Butcher Bay, you know this shit just got even more real.

Really, IMO, Escape from Butcher Bay was the only real game that got prisons right. The atmosphere is just incredible, and you wonder how the prison could be even more containing than before.

Let me remind you the times when the grass was #00FF00.

P.S.: That MGS intro looks like an 007 rip-off. And is probably too.

Medal of Honor: Frontline. A quote shows up on the screen before it shows you and a company of frightened American soldiers approaching Omaha Beach in a landing craft. It was very reminiscent of Saving Private Ryan and I remember being in complete awe of it when I first played the game.

Surprised no one's said Borderlands yet. That being said, Borderlands. It tells you just about everything you need to know about the plot of the game in very few words and to the tune of a catchy Cage The Elephant song. It's very stylistic and it really got me excited to start playing.

Personnal favourite has to be Zelda:OoT, starting off with the night sky with Epona galloping across the horizon then taking a flight across Hyrule Field against the sunrise, only one word can descibe it: beautiful.
