JRPGs always get me with their soundtracks. I'm hard pressed to find one I don't like. But I do have a favorite.
First JRPG I've played and as soon as the piano started in the beginning I fell in love. Then the singing started. My love of this song became concrete.
A few months ago this would have been me spam posting the Persona 4 soundtrack and leaving immediately but after a spree of new Visual Novels I have so many more new songs.
Solid favourite Comyu has a great soundtrack all round but the battle music stands out especially.
The Final Fantasy homage is real.
Most recently i've just finished Sharin no Kuni and it was far better than I first thought it could be. Seriously, I don't think i've ever seen a more unlikable "I want this guy dead" antagonist than Houzuki before. Five minutes into the game even.
They use this around about once per chapter, no more than five or six times over the course of the game. It's the "fuck this, Kenichi is going ham" music.
What is it with VNs and above average soundtracks? It's like every other one I try just has godlike music.
Final Fantasy X's soundtrack as awesome, a mix of a lot of different genre of music each one beautiful in its own way, this is my favourite of the lot though. One of the first songs you hear and it always gets me pumped.
With its melancholy jazz and strong crescendos, Halo 3: ODST's is an amazingly composed, atmospheric and thoroughly satisfying score; without a doubt, it's Martin O'Donnell's best to date.
Mirror's Edge
Halo: ODST
Neo Tokyo (and it's not even in the game proper!)
Metal Gear Solid (and 2 and 3)
Perfect Dark.
Mass Effect (all 3)
Colony Wars: Red Sun
There's lots of other great soundtracks out there, but they're the ones I love dearly
To Youtube!
Dust: An Elysian Tail. The main reason I love this game so much.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The music makes the game so much better.

Rocket Knight Adventures on Sega Genesis. This game is really good and the music is fantastic for Sega Genesis.

Super Mario RPG. Enough said.

Animaniacs for the Sega Genesis. Really good game and music.

My favorite soundtracks have to be from (in no particular order) LOZ: Ocarina of Time,LOZ: Majora's Mask, LOZ: Wind Waker Paper Mario, Paper Mario TTYD. Mostly the boss themes in the Paper Mario Series
Recently? Probably Transistor. The most catchy song of which is probably...
I also love how for some songs there are upwards of three or four different versions as well, for different characters and scenes. For example:
Original version
Instrumental only version
Instrumental with the protagonist humming along
Corrupted version, from a boss fight
That sort of dedication to sound design is admirable in itself, that each version of the song is also catchy in and of itself as well is just fantastic.
I'm sure I've listed loads of songs in threads like this before, but another reason to do it again isn't unappreciated.
I'll link a few of my favorite game songs, but bare in mind I have a LOT of "favorite" game soundtracks. Also, even though I'll probably only list one or two songs from a given soundtrack, it's very likely that I love the entire game or series soundtrack that the song is from.
I need to stop, otherwise I'll keep going for pages upon pages...
The Command & Conquer series has always had friggin' amazing music. Hell March 2 from Red Alert 2 is one of my favorites. The original C&C also had great music. Mechanical Man and Prepare for Battle were probably my favorites.
Halo 2 also had a fantastic soundtrack. My go-to favorite there was the game's main theme, the Halo MJOLNIR Mix.
Simply put, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax has the best collection of video game music known to man.
Take all the best tracks from Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 4 Arena, put them together, then add a few new amazing tracks, and you simply cannot match Ultimax in terms of sheer volume of amazing music.
From the main theme:
...to the rest of the tracks that make it up (spoilered due to numbers):
You actually CAN'T find a better listing of video game music.
From here it whittles down into one or two tracks that I love from hundreds of different games. In terms of entire soundtracks though these get my recommendations.
