Artemis the Hunter. Predominantly a name given to females but every now and then a male comes along with such a talent for hunting that he earns the right to use the name. Can you guess where that little quote comes from?
"And, hey, little Arty, isn't Artemis usually a girls name?"

*One drawn out bad-ass speech later*

"I am Artemis the hunter. And I've hunted you."

"Holly flew off at Artemis saying hunter, though she didn't understand why he drew it out so long."

Artimes Fowl, the Eternity Code. You made me smile, friend. I knew someone else knew about Eoin Colfer.

Furrina, the Roman Goddess of...actually no one knows. The Romans celebrated her festival every year but soon forgot what she was the goddess of.
Possibly the Goddess of alcohol then?

I don't know any Goddesses other than Athena, Venus and Aphrodite so yea, one of them will have to do.
Venus=Aphrodite. Had to point it out. It's a Roman/Greek thing.

OT Artemis. Why? Because of the story about her and the shepherd boy. Or it could have been Narcissus my Hellenic Mythology is a bit fuzzy these days.
I think she turned a shepherd boy into a goat for watching her bathing, and as for Narcissus, that was just a nobody nymph.

Well The story Im thinking of is she finds a young boy asleep next to a lake and asks Zeus to make him immortal. I would post in better detail but memory is fuzzy.

aphrodite, partly because of what shes related to (love and beauty), and partly because her name sounds like afro and hermophrodite combined.

also, Isis gets an honorable mention because she stiched Osiris back together twice.

Freyja, the norse goddess of love and fertility, but also of war, death, magic and wealth.

Freyja also receives half of the spirits of warriors who had died bravely in battle and is the Mistress of the Valkyries. The half that goes to Odin are "the offensive", or those who dedicate their life to fighting and looting. Freyja?s warriors are "the defensive", or those who only fight to protect their families or clans or the property thereof.
Well said. Look at all that effort you saved me! XD

Still doesn't beat Freyja. Her cloak allows her to transform into any bird, large cats draw her chariots and we must not forget her acts at the The Æsir-Vanir War, which was fought at the beginning of everything. A seeress by the name of Gullveig, who could not be defeated by the Æsir, is believed to be Freyja, as she describes the battle is norse texts.

The Æsir is one half of the pantheon, including such major figures as Odin, Frigg, Thor, Baldr and Tyr. And they couldn't defeat Freyja, who is one of the three most prominent characters of the Vanir.

Quite possibly it was Freyja who was in fact responsible for the entire civil war between the gods. It could be said that Freyja was sent to Ásgard, to corrupt the Æsir through greed, lust, and witchcraft. She is the goddess of love, fertility and magic. Among other things. And apparently she succeeded to a great degree...The they try to kill her as the war starts, and they fail.

She is also one of the few to give Loki the Trickster a speech that makes even him hesitate. And Loki did kill Baldr by using a spear of mistletoe and later prevent his resurrection by playing to be a giant who didn't want Baldr back. So Loki isn't exactly intimitated lightly. Yet even he listens when Freyja gets on a bad mood.

There is a good reason for this. When Thor's hammer was stolen and Freyjas hand in marriage was demanded as the price for it's return, she... well... gets the rage going.

Wroth then was Freyja,
and with anger chafed,
all the Æsir?s halls
beneath her trembled

She is one bad**s goddess. Aphrodite has nothing on her.
