There are many other instruments, but guitarists are pretty much the core of a rock/metal group. While a group can get by without a truly fantastic guitarist, one of those doesn't exactly hurt a band's popularity.Berethond said:I hate guitarists. There are other instruments in the world, you know.
No apology necessary, and I understand your point and for most songs I agree with you.tomtom94 said:I think it's a decent song, but you have to admit it isn't a System of a Down song - the same goes for She's Like Heroin (minus the decent part) and Lost in Hollywood. And to a lesser extent Kill Rock 'n' Roll.Nautical Honors Society said:I can understand where you are coming from, but I think his voice still works in some songs. Lonely day is a good song imo.tomtom94 said:Daron Malakian is an excellent guitarist also - though I felt he was too egotistical on Hypnotize/Mesmerize when he decided he should be the vocalist as well.
They're decent enough but they're slow "rock" songs.
I don't mind his singing when he's just doing his harmonizing with Serj - or little bits of a song which suit his voice (a la Hypnotize and Prison Song) - but I think when he just concentrated on the guitar riffs he was better.
Very off-topic, for which I apologise.
There's other kinds of music besides rock and metal.tomtom94 said:There are many other instruments, but guitarists are pretty much the core of a rock/metal group. That sounds pretty interesting. Have you ever listened to any solo bass, like Jaco Pastorius or Michael Manring?Furburt said:Maybe you should try Om. They're a Stoner/Drone metal band that consists of only drums and bass.Berethond said:I hate guitarists. There are other instruments in the world, you know.
This is also true. Unfortunately we're all generic teenagers/young adults who like rock and metal. Apologies if that's not to your liking.Berethond said:There's other kinds of music besides rock and metal.tomtom94 said:There are many other instruments, but guitarists are pretty much the core of a rock/metal group. Just out of interest, what sort of music are you into?
You sound so bitter, and basically you're trolling, (a deliberately provoking post adding nothing to the discussion) so smooth moves there.Berethond said:I hate guitarists. There are other instruments in the world, you know.
I agree if you play the guitar you are automatically A PRICK AND I NEVER WANT TO TALK TO YOU AGAIN. /sarcasmBerethond said:I hate guitarists. There are other instruments in the world, you know.
