John Mayer is pretty cool. I don't like everything he does, but some of it has a very nice feel to it, like this one!

And the obligatory mention of my idol, Dexter Romweber.

This list is dominated by too many rock and metal folks.

If you don't know the following players, do yourself a favor and give a listen:
Django Reinhardt
Chet Atkins
Wes Montgomery
Tommy Emmanuel
Lenny Breau

Claudio Sanchez - Coheed and Cambria
Travis Stever - Coheed and Cambria
Michael Paget - Bullet For My Valentine
James Hetfield - Metallica

These men are my biggest influences in my guitar playing.

I get a lot of my playing style from Claudio and James. Mostly Claudio these days. My "stance" used to be a lot like James', but I've changed it up a bit and its a cross between Claudio and James.

There is no other answer. Hendrix? Doesn't hold a candle to SRV.

Clapton's playing is very special to me, as is David Gilmour's, but SRV is just undeniably top dog.

Jani Allan Kristian Liimatainen, one of the founding members of Sonata Arctica and Cain's Offering.

As I'm fond of saying, I'm not gay until' Jani is. Love Finnish Power Metal.

Ray Torro (sp?) I know that sounds lame, but damn he's good.
I'm like 62% sure that very few people on the Escapist know who Ray Torro is.Seeing as how MCR probably isn't the most popular band on here.I however like him as well.

I hate guitarists. There are other instruments in the world, you know.
That's no reason to hate guitarist individual guitarists though, most of them play other instruments too

OT: Buckethead
Herman Li
Steve Vai
Jimmy Wahlsteen
Sebastien Cloutier
Sergio Altamura
Habib Koite
Pete Townsend

I like a nice wide range from world, folk and metal.

The fastest shredding in the world can't hold a candle to David Gilmour. Nothing he plays is particularly difficult or complicated, but he somehow still manages to play in a way that just blows everybody else out of the water, in my opinion. And each of his solos are like songs unto themselves.

I like the fact that only 1(maybe one I missed) person named Petrucci.

My favs, in no particular order, just to name a few:
- Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield - Metallica
- Adrian Smith - Iron Maiden
- Jaap Kwakman - 3JS
- Jimi Handrix - his own Experience
- Brian May - Queen
- Matt Bellamy - Muse
- The Edge - U2
- Alexi Laiho - Children of Bodom
- Liam Clewlow (Rory) - Enter Shikari

Look em up on Youtube if you really don't know who I'm talking about. This is not a final list, there are more, but this is the top of my head.

That sounds pretty interesting. Have you ever listened to any solo bass, like Jaco Pastorius or Michael Manring?
Fraid I haven't, I've heard of Pastorious though. I'm not really much into Jazz, I prefer things such as heavy metal, industrial music, funk or occasionally folk.

Oh yeah, this also reminded me of Cop Shoot Cop, an industrial band who use some folk instruments. They don't have a guitarist, they have two bassists.
Oh, it's not really jazz, it's more fusion/funk.

Matt Bellamy is my boy, for sure.
My music collection isn't very diverse, though, so I'm not very knowledgable in this area.
However, that doesn't lessen Matt Bellamy's talent.
