Favorite JRPGs?

sounds kinda stupid i know but i havent played many jrpgs but the ones i have were always very linear and repetative, so can i just ask if anybody has some decent suggestions for someone coming into jrpg?

OP: Persona 4 is my favorite. Followed by Legend of Dragoon, Persona 3 Portable, and Grandia.

I would go with the first two Shadow Hearts games for PS2, Shadow Hearts and SH: Covenant. You may not of heard of them, but they were amazing games. Great story, interesting characters, combat is a lot of fun, just all around good games.

Have you ever tried playing them on a PS3? It might just be mine but, IT WON'T LET ME! I've gone through every SH game: 1,2&3 and they all freeze around the beginning of it. I was lucky enough to play the 3rd on my old PS2 but I don't have it anymore. T_T I can tell you honestly that the 3rd was amazing but don't get your hopes up on a sequel.

No, I never did. I don't have a PS3 anymore (sold it), and it wasn't a backwards compatible one. What model do you have?

And I never had a chance to play 3. As far as I was aware, it had a different cast and I didn't have much interest in it.

I have the 80 GB MGS4 bundle which was the last one to advertise the compatibility. It seems to be only that videogame series because I've gone through 40 other Ps2 games without a problem. Oh and was able to work a way around the freezing in SH:Covenant until halfway through where it really crapped out on me, and I can tell you, Gameplay wise, it is much better. Even though the main characters are gone, there is still Lenny and Roger Bacon(who they let you name Itchy McScrotumface now.) making a cameo.

I've picked up Mana Khemia again recently, and I've been playing that religiously. I've played all 3 Atelier Iris games (1 and 2 I'm stuck in, at seperate parts, I thought 3 was amazing...also Flay is a blatant rip off of Edge). I loved FFXIII as well, but I'm busy grinding to defeat the Chapter 11 boss. I'm eagerly awating Disgaea 4, having finished 2 recently and 1 and 3 a while ago. Also fond of Eternal Sonata, Golden Sun, Chrono Trigger, FF1-XIII, Valkyria Chronicles and Hyperdimension Neptunia. As for a favorite...either Soul Nomad or Disgaea 2, or even Persona 3 and/or 4.

The original FFIV and the DS remake for clearing up a lot of the miss translations.

FFVI, FFVII, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross and Earthbound.

Chrono Trigger, Tales of Symphonia and Vesperia, Golden Sun series, and I did enjoy Final Fantasy III for DS.

VC 2 was terrible because the main character was an idiot and the game got to be a grindfest.
