Pan's Labyrinth

Re-Cycle

Particularly Re-Cycle because of how weird the entire movie is and how creepy it can feel at some points.

Plus the special effects are spectacular

Audition was intelligent and creepy.
Evil Aliens is brainless fun and had Emily Booth in it.

I can't believe someon else has seen "EVIL ALIENS"! Saw it at the Toronto Film Festival a couple years back. Very very silly z-grade entertainment :p[/quote]

I'm hoping Doghouse will be as silly as Evil Aliens. Plus you'd recognise the Snipper in it. :)

Not sure if anyone has seen Loaded Weapon 1. I know it's very underrated though. I'm also not sure if Spy Hard is obscure, but I don't know anyone who's seen it.

I have to say, I don't watch many Obscure movies... but there's a good Hungarian one called Kontroll. It counts as obscure AND just plain weird.

Also, a Japanese one called Hellivator. That's pretty special. Also counts as obscure and just plain weird.

Oh... and Wild Zero. Another Japanese one. Zombie movie with a rock band fighting them off.

Oldboy. OLDBOY! Watch it now, but it, buy it for your friends, watch it with your parents. Also, I really like Tekkon Kinkreet, the above applies there as well.

I'm seeing a lot of Oldboy love on this forum recently which is good.

Anyway, my favourite obscure film ever is probably Funny Games, far more shocking than any of the video nasties that I've seen, yet still managing to be very intelligent.

You win, there is no cooler scene than when Guitar Wolf jumps out of the exploding building while screaming "LOCK AND LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!"

Bad Taste and Meet the Feebles definately rank up there. This was Peter Jackson before King Kong or Lord of the Rings. Epic!

I've also always been a fan of those 80's comedies like Dutch and The Secret to My Success. Good times.

Saints and Soldiers was quite a good World War 2 movie.
The Woodsman was excelent, if depressing

And I know Leon isn't really obscure, but I don't know anyone else who has seen it.
Saints and Soldiers?
Did that have Mel Gibson in it?

I think I might have it on DVD....
No, I was thinking of this.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0373283/

Another that while not obscure, is most definitely wierd, is Brazil.
Sorry I was thinking of "We Were Soldiers".

But I have actually seen the one you're talking about, but all I remember is he saw an apparition of a dead girl from a house they were sleeping in or something.

And I think there was something about sharing a prostitute aswell....

My favourite obscure movies are:
  • The Butterfly Effect - I've only met 2 people who've heard of it.
    Zombie Strippers
i watched the butterfly effect the otherday, that WAS obscure. not my favorite though. im going with something more like shipping news or maybe saints and soliders, although thats not too bad for obscuraty...
Edit: what about lesbian vampire killers?
Lesbian Vampire killers aired in cinemas all over the world not too long ago, so I wouldn't say it's obscure...

I've seen so many obscure weird and cult movies over my life it might take a while to remember them all let alone write them down but in no particular order

*snip*

Let the Right One In

*snip*

That's all I can think of at the moment and I ended up adding more than I thought but that's still probably only a small part of the lesser known culty movies I've seen
Let the right one in is ACTUALLY my favourite movie of all time.

I'm not just saying that - I can't think of any words good enough to describe how much I love it. :D

Thank You For Smoking is a great film. Not too many people I know have heard of it, let alone seen it.

Mine is "Let the Right One in".

It's a eastern European movie about a psychotic 11 year old boy who makes friends with a 12 year old girl, who happens to be a blood thirsty vampire. Think "Interview with a Vampire" meets a childhood romance, with subtitles and a hell lot of gore. It's a fantastic movie, best thing about Vampires since Buffy the vampire slayer.

Also, notice how you haven't heard of or seen this movie, or if you have, which you haven't, no one else you know has. That makes it obscure. Notice how everyone has heard of or watched "Shaun of the Dead". That's because it's not.
I now love you.
Regardless of gender.

But seriously I love this movie so much and i'm going to force all my friends to watch it once the DVD is released... :D It's so sad, but beautiful at the same time. And I love the way that it can be interpreted in loads of different ways.
