I don't think I have favourite units as such, more favourite things about units.

Almost all the unit sound effects from RA2, plus the further ones in the expansion. Especially rocketeers and Tanya.

More recently, using submarines in the new advance wars to block enemies on bridges. Nothing more funny than parking artillery up on a bridge and having a submerged sub infront on the next bridge square. Come and get me... oops and now you die.

TBS: Master of Magic: Halfling Slingers. It's very satisfying to take over the world with a bunch of rock throwing little people with hairy feet.
WH40K: About any of the non vehicle Orks. I just love to hear 'em yell like a bunch of rowdy footballers.

For shame, people! No one mentioned the best mech ever in RTSs. The Goliath from Starcraft. Nothing compared to the first time you saw that bad boy unleash rockets to the air and machine guns to the ground.

The Goliath from Company of Heroes gets a second place. A tiny, remote control tank that kamikaze'd and caused massive damage.

The Dreadnought from Dawn of War gets an honorable mention. He just smashes EVERYTHING in his path.

Overpowered bastards. I miss the (brief) months before Charon Boosters where a pack of Guardians could basically peel apart any Terran ground force.

I'd have to say the Hydralisk from SC, out of sheer versatility and cinematic awesomeness, with an honourable mention to the Death Sphere from Rise of Legends. Few things compare to dragging a black hole over your enemy's infantry.

i just love mirkwood archers from battle for middle earth 2 (when you upgrade their arrows they go blue and just annialate anything, and seeing about 100 blue trails hitting your enemys army and them all dieing is just beautiful.)
second place goes to the fire ships from age of empires 3, when in one mission you have an unlimited stream of them.

Black Dragons from Heroes of Might and Magic: III

Fully upgraded Longbowmen from AoE:II, those bastards shot enemies from insane distance.

In terms of usefulness, the Scathis mobile artillery from Supreme Commander is just fantastic. One of them can shut down an opponent's base from yours, and three or four of them can completely destroy a fully developed base covered in shield generators.

For style, Monkeylords are made of win.

The Hellfire Hunter goblin from Goblin Commander was pretty cool...as were the Crypt Fiends from Warcraft 3 for their delightful sayings.
