Admittedly, my favorite thing to do was use the infinite slow time cheat which affected the gun animations as well, and fire like three of the red balls of death then fire a blast from this and watch as they all went off at once

This thing was just FUN to shoot. I mean a lot of the guns from Turok are a joy to use, but this one has always stood out in my memory easily.
Load it up with some explosive ammo, get in a nice cramped area with a gaggle of enemies and watch it chaotically carve a swatch of entrails and explosions in a matter of seconds.

Although you'd be hard-pressed to find any praise about the new DmC, I think the weapons in that game are really fun to use, and probably the reason I'm still playing it now. Heck, I rarely used Rebellion in my first playthrough because the subweapons are so fun.

Smash enemies into the air with the Arbiter, then lob the axe head at them to knock 'em around even more. Use Osiris for elegant combos both in the air and on the ground, along with the propellor-o-doom attack. Charge up Eryx for massive damage, uppercut them into the air then bounce them between the air and the floor. Aquila is absolutely peerless when it comes to crowd control; stunlock a single enemies, pull all the others close to you, then unleash a tornado for a massive combo.

Of course, part of the reason these weapons are so effective is because the enemies in DmC are mostly complete shmucks who exist solely to be ground beneath your feet. When the elite Dreamrunners show up, I prefer to stick with Rebellion.

Halo's Needler for its sheer effectiveness combined with its uniqueness.

Also, the energy sword from the original Smash Bros. I threw that thing at my enemies like it was my job.

*Gestures to the armory of weapons in Dead Space 2*

*Gestures to the Gravity Gun*

*Gestures to pretty much any weapon in Bulletstorm besides the assault rifle*

*Gestures to FUSE*

That about covers it.

Yeah, it's a mobile game, but the only game ever to have my "dream weapon" was Dead Trigger:

Gotta love clip-reload crossbows.

Only improvement would be if it was more like the Van Helsing crossbow:

Gotta love the steampunk.

The grenade launcher from Timesplitters 2 was pretty boss, as well:

Spits a grenade that spits out 2 more. Alternate fire? FIREBALLS. Also, it looks like a revolver suffering from elephantitis. And that's awesome.

The AER14 prototype laser from Fallout New Vegas. Its lasers were green and thus better. Green > Red
YES!! Favourite gun in the game. The Sprtel-Wood that came in the GRA mod was a similar concept.

The fucking Blitzkrieg. Anyone who has played Dead Rising 2 knows what I'm talking about.

The "armed to the teeth wheelchair" move is badass. The Stephen Hawkings' voice taunts are the chery in the Batman-levels-of-awesome cake.

The Master Sword + Hurylian Shield in Zelda??

Not maybe the one I used the most but the Revolver in Red Steel II was freakin' sweet :D

I like the supercharged gravity gun, much in the same way I like the telekinesis plasmid from Bioshock. It's useful outside of combat, and even if it doesn't affect anything, relocating the corpses afterward is good fun.
Other than that, Mass Effect 2's Cain was pretty satisfying.

there are many great weapons in this thread, but i have to go with a classic from a 2-D side-scroller:

X-buster from the Mega Man X series.

i almost went with the Mega Buster for it's charge ability, but the fact the X-buster can charge into even more insane blasts AND charge the special weapons too, it is my favorite video game weapon.

The Cerebral Bore from Turok 2. It's mindblowing.

The Shrink Ray from Duke 3D. Sometimes you gotta appreciate the small things.

Metal Gear Rex from Metal Gear Solid. Because driving a big-ass, nuke-launching walking arsenal is awesome and no-one ever said my favorite weapon has to be man-portable.

I'm old, so for a gun I'll have to go with...

For close up and personal?

Do Real Life weapons count? My personal favorite is the Tommy Gun from Bioshock 1. That could take out almost anything.

Gravity gun from Half-Life 2. Walking around carrying a saw blade wherever I went. I hardly used as much as a single bullet through that section of the game. Just chopping off heads with my sawblade.

Presea from Tales of Symphonia got some cool axes (one that is even alive) and Lloyd's Material blades are awesome since they can fuse into one sword.
