Favourite/best opening sequence in a game?

Bioshock was pretty neat, because it was the first game I played on my new PC. The lighting effects were amazing and the fire's reflection on the water was very pretty.

I do like the functionality of L4D's intro. It shows most of the important gameplay aspects, while still keeping an entertaining aspect to it, and also integrates seamlessly with the first chapter of the game's campaign.

And of course Half Life, the birth of a new genre of intro movies.

OT: I genuinely like the opening sequence of World of Warcraft. Oh, and I like the opening sequence to Dynasty Warriors 4.

Well Dissidia's intro is the very definition of epic.


and Devil May Cry 4's intro was simply marvelous.


Assassins Creed gets an honorable mention as well.

I don't know what I would rate as my favorite in terms of drawing me into the game or setting the mood, but far cry 2 had a classic opening. They show you the terrain, they tell you about the fighting, you get to see what you're getting yourself into, and you're like "sweet looks kick ass" then you get sick and they guy you were meant to assassinate helps you. All I could imagine when this happened was a big fat red FAIL stamp appearing on your screen. XD
