No Doubt, Paramore, the Wreckers, first in flight.

I also like lots of female solo artists, but that's not the question.

Within temptation.

If music calms the savage beast, then a portable stereo with a within temptation cd may be the only thing that might save fox executives if I ever see them.

Right now I'm listening to and enjoying. Epica, Lyriel, Nightwish, Arkona, Portishead, and I haven't quite made up my mind about Magica. Also Cruachan I don't know if that one counts.

My introduction to punk (arguably the most influential genre to me as a musician) were riot grrrl bands such has Bikini Kill and Bratmobile. So yeah. Good shit.

Beyond that, I'm all over the place. I often times prefer girls singing to guys in bands. Some of my favorites include...

The Epoxies,

The Soviettes,

the Yeah Yeah Yeah's,

Siouxsie Soiux n' The Banshees,

TILT,

The Damn Broads,

Ooh ooh almost forgot about X-Ray Spex!!!

RIP Poly Styrene

This:

Also:

Elysion

Magica
Had to upload that song myself...

And a host of others I could mention. I spend (read: waste) tons of time looking for these bands. This is just a small portion of the fruits of my, uh, labor.

I just want to give a plus 1 for Eths. Pretty uncommon all round. Female singer, metal, good metal at that, IN French. I also apreciate the combination of more melodic singing and screaming some of these songs have. They deserve a video posted up here, but I've played around and I cann't get a viddo to embed, so have a link instead.

Since Devotchkas and The Distillers were already mentioned, I'm gonna go with Guano Apes and The Cardigans
Yeah, I was going to say The Cardigans.

Late 90s nostalgia :D. Not quite as good as early 90s nostalgia, but still fun.

Blondie; Paramore; No Doubt; Citizen Charlie; Evanescence; Delain; Nightwish; Catatonia; Avril Lavigne; Die so Fluid; Cranberries; Katherine Jenkins; Heart; Garbage; La Roux; Lulu; Nouvelle Vague; Pretty Reckless; Republica; P!nk; Within Temptation.

I also wanna mention Beautiful South and Carpenters, but they've both got a male AND a female singer.

And not the singer, but Mindless Self Indulgence are like, half female...

Female Fronted:

The Distillers are one of my favourite bands and Brodie Dalle is someone who comes quite close to what I could call an almost "perfect fit"(if such exists at all) type of woman for me.

Female Only:

Nux Vomica

A (now defunct) local band.

Because ... well, they f***ing rock!
Just imagine if Backyard Babies, (old/good)Guns'n'Roses, Turbonegro and Murderdolls had 5 babies, and they'd form a band... yeah, that sleazy, hard and dirty. =)

Solo Artist:

Yes, the First Lady of France (now Bruni Sarkozy).
But before that she made some amazing records(especially "Quelqu'un m'a dit") with beautiful chansons.
And her voice gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to her...

There are way more, especially from the early/mid-nineties in punk/rock, but I'll keep it short.
