I used to like Sheogorath, but than Shivering Isles came and everybody else got turned on by him, so i 'converted' to Malacath and Trinimac from whom he came into existence.

I would have to say (like most) sheogorath. Shivering isles was much better then the original story line.

That one kept bugging me while i was busy killing everyone and taking theyre trousers!

Commander Shepard, according to Ashley Williams, who then backs down and tries to rip you a new one.
The gods of Forgotten Realms I really liked, they acted in a way that is understandable/normal/human.

The Time Lord thing from Soul Caliber series, hated that thing.

Dethklok. No, wait, they're real aren't they.
In that case, the Saint of Killers from Preacher comics.
In games, probably Legion from Shadowman.

Jesus Christ.....no?
He wasn't a deity, just the first, most famous con-man.

I elect God. Because my Atheism won't let me say anything to do with games with this thread.

I'd say Cthulhu. He slumbers in R'lyeh for your sins (and sanity).

On the vidya game side, Amaterasu (of Okami fame) and Arceus (Jesus horse FTW).

Bilious, the "Oh God of Hangovers," who gets all of the bad effects of drinking even though he has never touched a drop.

The sun!

It might not be called a deity in games, but it's a giant, constantly burning, atomic fusing ball that provides everything we have on this planet. And, of course, we have quite a lot of proof that it actually exists.

you can't get a much better god than that.

Books: Kyprioth the Trickster in Tamora Pierce's Trickster books or The King of the Silver River in Terry Brooks' Shannara books.

Games: Hm... If the Sinistrals from the Lufia games count then Iris, definitely. Otherwise I'd go with Gork and Mork. Gorka Morka Gorka Morka Gorka Morka WAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!

One of my favorite deities - a goddess that my barbarian warrioress came to worship - was named Skadi.

Skadi was a giantess who's husband was killed by one of the pantheon of Norse Gods (probably Thor). Instead of accepting her loss and mourning her husband, she geared up in battle armor and marched, alone, to the gate of Bifrost. It was there, fists on hips, that this mere giantess challenged the Norse gods, telling them that she was going to kill them one by one for slaying her husband.

Instead of killing her, which would have been a likely result had they accepted her challenge, they so admired her courage and moxy, that they offered her a new husband and place in their pantheon as a goddess.

I read about it in one of the D&D pantheon books or a related publication, and fell in love with her. This was a deity that had "the right stuff".

I've always been partial to Hextor, god of tyranny in D&D greyhawk. Dunno why.

And I dig Lolth, queen of the Demonweb pits and spiders, ruler of the Dark Elves of the Underdark. Her priestesses are hot and have crazy sex orgies with demons.

<3 I love Athena. I've been reading the Odyssey for Classical Civilizations, and she's just such a clever character.

also, whoever said Dormin from SotC, YES. I love its dual nature...
Fun Fact: Athena was portrayed as an utter ***** in the war against Troy, which directly preceeded the Odyssey. She actually tried to kill thousands of people and destroy a man's life because he picked Aphrodite over her in a beauty contest. Of course, because Hera is perpetuatly portrayed as a *****, she was the third entrant in the contest and did the exact same thing.

Quite frankly, like I posted above: Hades was the only consistently decent god in the entire Greecian mythos.
Well no, all the gods have pretty strong duality. Hades kidnapped his wife Persephone, which resulted in Demeter going on a motherly rampage and all the crops stopped growing and everyone starved for a while... And frankly, Aphrodite would have done the same had she not been picked. <3 I love that the gods are just like real people... they can do wonderful things, but they are also selfish and destructive.
