'If you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal and if they can't stop you, you become something else entirely ? a legend, Mister Wayne.'- Liam Neeson as Ras al Ghul.

Come now, that's hardly fair. Liam Neeson speaks only truth, even if it wasn't truth until he said it.

Made even more poignant later. Your quote was said at the start of the series to show the bond between the two, then at the end of the series:

Kamina's ghost tells Simon this:
"Don't believe in me. Believe in you who believes in yourself."
Showing that Simon has grown strong enough to not need Kamina any more, allowing him to finally move on from Kamina's death and, y'know, save the fucking universe!

Now then, my contribution:

"Marriage, old age and a lot of little blue children." - Femshep, Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC, ME2. Said by Jennifer Hale (suck it Mark Meer) in response to Liara's question of what they'll do after the Reapers. IMO, a nice humanising moment for Shepard.

HK-47 defines 'love'. This is my favorite quote from the games honestly and I've used it on my GF. Didn't mean to cop-out with a video but there you have it.

Preston Jeremiah Cole - I put it in context from the wikia since in context it's just that more badass.

As the Covenant moved in to attack, an Insurrectionist fleet led by the Bellicose suddenly exited Slipspace and charged the Covenant ships. The Insurrectionist fleet blew through the Covenant ships, and as suddenly as they appeared, jumped to Slipspace. With only a handful of Covenant ships left, Cole's fleet began to flee the battle. However, another Covenant fleet, numbering in over two hundred ships, then exited Slipspace to reinforce their other fleet. Cole ordered the remnants of Battle Group India to fall back from the planet, leaving Cole's command ship, UNSC Everest, to face the enemy alone. The Everest sped towards Viperidae, powered down all non-essential systems, but opened all missile silo doors. Cole beamed an open-com transmission to the Covenant fleet, openly mocking them and questioning their religious superiority:

?Listen to me, Covenant. I am Vice Admiral Preston J. Cole commanding the human flagship, Everest. You claim to be the holy and glorious inheritors of the universe? I spit on your so-called holiness. You dare judge us unfit? After I have personally sent more than three hundred of your vainglorious ships to hell? After kicking your collective butts off Harvest - not once - but twice? From where I sit, we are the worthy inheritors. You think otherwise, you can come and try to prove me wrong.?

The Covenant then ignored Battle Group India and all moved towards the Everest. Cole plunged into the immense gravitational pull of Viperidae, now unable to get back out. The Covenant fired at the ship, but the magnetosphere[19] provided enough interference against the Covenant's plasma based weaponry and prevented a kill. Cole taunted the Covenant one last time:

"Is that the best you can do? Watch what one unworthy human can do! ?

Cole then fired everything the Everest had - not at the Covenant, but into Viperidae. The super-pressurized hydrogen inside the gas giant's atmosphere spontaneously underwent nuclear fusion by the one hundred Shiva nuclear warheads fired at it, and Viperidae exploded into a brown dwarf. When the micronova ceased every Covenant ship, apparently along with Preston Cole and the UNSC Everest, had been obliterated.[18]

Ulysses from Fallout: New Vegas is something of a favourite character of mine.

"My history isn't revenge, or hate. The road that brought us both here - isn't about that. It's about the message you carried. The one in that package whether you knew it or not."

His entire motivation is literally the trope 'For me it was Tuesday' except it was Tuesday FOR YOU. His plan is entirely built from what he learnt from you.

"No need to kill the bear. Just cut it's throat. I will turn the long 15 into miles of fire. Cut off the supply line, and leave the bear exposed for the bull."

Lastly, his entire reason for living revealed and destroyed by you.

"You brought the bear, then the bull, brought me. And there I saw something larger than the Bear, greater than the Bull, a new way of thinking. Somewhere I could have called my home, could have lain my flag down at last. Then you brought the machine in that package, destroyed my home. Now, I'll destroy yours."

And of course the ending narration.

"It is said that war - war never changes. Men do. By the roads that they walk. And this road has reached its end."

Not my favourite quote, but I watched The Tree of Life recently and this has stuck in my head:

'I wanted to be loved because I was brave... a big man. But I'm nothing.'

Also:

'Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.'

There's another from Hitchhiker's which, ironically, I can't remember. Or find anywhere, for that matter.

"There is something profoundly cynical my friends, in the notion of paradise after death. The lure is evasion. The promise is excusative. One need not accept responsibility for the world as it is, and by extension, one need do nothing about it. To strive for change, for true goodness in this mortal world, one must acknowledge and accept in ones own soul, that this mortal reality has purpose in itself, that its greatest value is not for us, but for our children and their children. To view life as but a quick passage along a foul, tortured path made foul and tortured by our own indifference, is to excuse all manner of misery and depravity and to exact cruel punishment upon the innocent lives to come. I defy this notion of paradise beyond the gates of bone. If the soul truely survives the passage then it behooves us, each of us my friends, to nuture a faith in similitude; what awaits us is a reflection of what we leave behind, and in the squandering of our mortal existence, we surrender the opportunity to learn the ways of goodness, the practise of sympathy, empathy, compassion and healing. All passed by on our headlong rush to arrive at a place of glory and beauty, a place we did not earn, and most certainly do not deserve."

Malazan book of the fallen series, not sure which book or which author, pretty sure it was one of Erikson. I'm telling any fellow escapists who are into fantasy books, if you havn't read this series your missing out BIG TIME lol the fact that I remembered it in its entirety is testomony to how fucking sweet this series is.
Preaching to the choir. That quote is just a perfect representation of The Malazan Book of the Fallen.(Pretty insane you knew all that by heart. I need to learn it myself) Any who, I'll just bring you some other quotes I love from the same series.

?Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying.
'I think of futility, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about futility?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her.
'Because Adjunct, it is futile.?

Name none of the fallen, for they stood in our place, and stand there still in each moment of our lives. Let my death hold no glory, and let me die forgotten and unknown. Let it not be said that I was one among the dead to accuse the living.

Imagine a world without such souls.
Yes, it should have been harder to do.

Ya I know eh took me a while to think of one if any novel series desearved to be a movie or anime it'd be the Book of the Fallen fuck LotR doesn't even compare. Think I'll pick up Night of knives and start the whole series over again tonight. LOL even though I have a neurological predisposition to insanity, co-morbid histrionic, and AsPD makes for a good memory if I really give a crap about something, I've been drawing Seguleh for months now.

I have to say that one of my favorite funny quotes was from Serenity

"This landing is gonna get pretty interesting...
Define "interesting".
Oh God, oh God, we're all going to die?"

One of my other favorite quotes would have to be any of the opening monologue things that Ron Perlman does in any of the Fallout games...

Because "War, war never changes."

Hmm...

Scorch: I think we may have to blast our way through that... And I'm *not* just saying that because I love to blow stuff up.
Sev: Yes, you are.

According to some,* heroic deaths are admirable things. I've never been convinced by this argument, mainly because, no matter how cool, stylish, composed, unflappable, manly, or defiant you are, at the end of the day you're also dead. Which is a little too permanent for my liking.

* Generally those who don't have to do it. Politicians and writers spring to mind.

Funny. My quote is actually a response to that one.

"Don't waste time doing things you hate"

Ok, it's not a quote so much as the title to a song but I consider it something to live by; what's the point of living if you're not enjoying it?

I really like these three:

Kyle from South Park said:
Real life is so boring and stupid!
Still Alive said:
We do what we must
because we can.
For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who are dead.
Gordon Freeman from Freeman said:
I'm a gun farmer. I plant bullet-seeds at people at about thousand feet per second and...out pop more guns! Right now I'm harvesting.
(as he picks up the weapons of dead soldiers)

I will make it so.

The Golden Rule:
"Matthew 7:12 - So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets."

And one that talks to rulers almost foreshadowing conflict:
"Mathew 16:26 - For what profit is it to a main if he gains the world, and loses his own soul?"

For Videogames:

"This castle is a creature of chaos. It may take many incarnations." - Alucard
(why yes I am a fan of Castlevania)

"As a man, I could never have contained such forbidden truths... But each of us is so much more than we once were... Gazing out across the planes of possibility, do you not feel with all your soul how we have become like gods? And as such, are we not indivisible? As long as a single one of us stands, we are legion..." - Kain

Dawn of War exchange:
Thule: Our faith is the Emperor of Man, alien. To bow to you, is heresy.
Kais: Then you follow the path to destruction.
Thule: Better destruction than bondage.
Kais: So says the slave, to the free man.

More later if I can remember any.
