Isnt Still Alive from Portal? :O

Both Portal and Mirror's Edge have a song called Still Alive.

The first "haunting" songs that come to mind are "The Price of Freedom" from Crisis Core and "Elle's Theme" from Silent Hill Homecoming.

Excellent list. 'Aquatic Ambience' is what made me want to make music. Such an amazing track. Captures the relaxing, yet threatening atmosphere of being underwater perfectly. The sound quality is amazing for its time too.

Top of any "haunting yet beautiful" list should be "We Form in Crystals" from Star Ocean 2 or "Theme of Rena" from the same title.

Others that come to mind are "Pyroxene of the Heart" from Eternal Sonata, "Memora de^la S'tono" from Final Fantasy XI, and "Corridor" from Persona 4.

I don't want to set the world on fire.

I don't remember the artist, but the song was in Fallout 3, and just added so much to the effect of the game. It was beautiful.

This isnt the scariest but when your playing oblivion, and you just cleared the cave, have almost no life, and when you get outside to fast travel to the nearest city. Then you get the message "Can't fast travel with enemies around" and the music starts getting louder and louder. That gets to you

It's even worse when you fight a bunch of baddies near a settlement and the fight music gets really quiet, then you wonder if that's the fight music, and kill anything that moves. Then a quest menu pops up and says that the guy you were working for was killed and you get nothing. DAMN IT!

I hated that and it use to keep me awake when I was younger, just thinking about the headless thing. :S
