Johan Hegg - Amon Amarth
George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher - Cannibal Corpse
Mikael Akerfeldt - Opeth
Myles Kennedy - Alter Bridge
Maynard James Keenan - Tool
Phil Lynott - Thin Lizzy

A few that come to mind, love their vocals.

Anders Fridén from In Flames. At least their easy work, he wasn't as good on the latest album though :(

Edit: OMG i forgot! ICS Vortex from Dimmu Borgir, not the lead singer! Bassist who does the clean vocals.

Listen from 2:40. That guy is just awesome.

Too bad he got kicked out :(

I dunno who i'd pick out of Hetfield or Halford, obviously Halford is the better singer, but to pick my favourite I'm not sure. Both are spectacular live, James always bleeds into the music, and Rob has that soaring vocal range that you can audibly hear go into overdrive when he's live.

Axl Fucking Rose. He has the greatest voice in heavy music, and he was once the greatest frontman in the world, say what you want about his voice/performance now, he is still better than most out there but not as good as he once was. Dunno about who is my current day favorite though. Maybe Chris Cornell from Soundgarden (And Audioslave/Temple of the Dog).

Zach De La Rocha from Rage Against The Machine.
Because out of every band I've ever heard, he definately has the most passion in his words.
He may not be the best vocalist, but you can really feel the passion coming from his lyrics.
