In this whole thread, the fact that Phil Anselmo has only been mentioned ONCE fills me with despair for the future of heavy metal.

There's no point in posting video's because if you're a metal fan and you don't know about him, there really is no hope for you.

I cant say its better then soundgarden, but its actually pretty good music...
Alright. I just don't like Chris Cornell too much, like it's never quite what it can be. And I'm trying to promote this band, cause they rock, and people should check it out. Somewhere between Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age and Pantera.

edit: f*cked up the quotes

1. David Draiman from Disturbed (He's been mentioned a lot, but it won't stop me from doing it because he's that awesome).

Instead of stating a few that have been mentioned a lot, i'll just say Erik "Legion" Hagstedt, fucking listen to Panzer Division Marduk.

Underrated tier = Michael Kiske. Deris is very good but Kiske is superior. Shame Helloween went to shit (fucking hamsters) and he left to do POP MUSIC. KoTSK part 2 is better than part 1 by the way.

Well Chester Bennington from Linkin Park is an amazing singer.
Even as a fan of Linkin Park, he really isn't that great.

I do love their music and there are songs where he's better, but too often his voice is irritating. Don't even get me started on Crawling.

OT: Someone who's been brought up before, Serj Tankian:

And also, someone I wasn't expecting to see in this thread:

I do like Tim Mcllrath of Rise Against.
Kudos to you sir, and if anyone says "RISE AGAINST AREN'T METAL!!!" (which is true), he used to be in a metalcore band...look up "The Killing Tree".

Monster Magnet's Dave Wyndorf, I don't care if he's a junkie, his performance is awesome.
He's got a really distinctive voice that can take on anything from metal to rock to psychedelic.

And Rob Zombie, there's just no other voice out there like his.

Also: Rammstein's Till Lindermann definitely knows how to infuse a metal voice with a big dose of creepy passion.
The song Amour is one of my favorite showcases of that fact.

Anders Fridén from In Flames. At least their easy work, he wasn't as good on the latest album though :(

Edit: OMG i forgot! ICS Vortex from Dimmu Borgir, not the lead singer! Bassist who does the clean vocals.

Listen from 2:40. That guy is just awesome.

Too bad he got kicked out :(
well... alot of bands are like that :) the last one you posted... here are some examples..

Almost anyone I could mention has already been said.

Although, I have noticed that no one has mentioned Jorn Lande yet.

For shame.

Jari Mäenpää from Wintersun and Ensiferum.
His voice is one of the more powerful you'll find in any genre.

death and the healing - here he shows his power without using the growling vocal style:

Winter Madness - Just plain awesome:

In Ensiferum, he recorded two covers, both are awesome:

Max Cavalera (Sepultura)
Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom)
Shagrath (Dimmu Borgir)
Till Lindermann (Rammstein)
Chuck Schuldiner (Death)

...long list, I know

Oh my, that is a very hard question, and one which I don't have a single answer for, because there are simply so many great vocalists in rock and metal music who're terrific for very different reasons, whether that be range, style, vocal strength, uniqueness, persona, stage presence, etc. I truly can't pin it down to my single favourite; all I would be able to do is provide a list of singers and reasons as to why they're great. But everybody seems to be sort of already doing that, so I might just forget about that :).

Rob Halford, listen to the whole album "Sad Wings of Destiny" his vocals are different in every song and they always fit perfectly.
