The Nemesis, ala Resident Evil 3. Aside from he was a well designed and simple antagonist, he was well utilised in the game for that Hunted fright factor. He was reasonably smart for RE baddies, and PS1 era AI. The fact that he was more than a redesigned Tyrant really made me pleased with him. Not to mention the bastard was only beatable one-on-one once or twice (depending on where you choose your battles) during "random" encounters with him. And you usually had to invest alot of finite ammo into bringing him down. Fingers crossed there were some barrels nearby to help.
The game was totally unforgiving if you didn't have enough ammo, or whatever. He'd jump out, and you'd fight. He'd ever blow you out of the water with his Rocket Launcher, or if you managed to disarm him of it, he'd just clothes-line you, and slam you into a wall. Then IF, and I mean,
IF you brought him to his knees, he'd get a 2nd wind (you were supposed to escape in that time frame), and do it all over again! He'd drop sweet loot if you could beat him a second time, though.
The only time where he was consistantly beatable was if you beat the game already and had something with infinate ammo.
