Is there any way we can legalize hitting them with hammer in the nuts every time they have a sick thought?
No. That would violate cruel and unusual punishment for one. And I think thought crime violates the first amendment.
If it doesn't then there really should be an anti-thought crime amendment.
Well, it wouldn't be unusual if we did it consistently.
As for cruel, who says a little cruelty towards the worst offenders in society is wrong? If somebody goes around torturing kids I see no issue in returning the favor of cruelty upon them. Rough them up, lock them up, make them regret every minute they're alive for acting on such whims.
And I'm talking about people have been convicted. If there's a pedophile out there who's managed to control their urges and is a functioning member of society, and is determined to never touch a kid even if they want too, then good, that person has every right to keep going with life. But the moment they step out of line and actually act on their lust, actually hurt or molest a child, I have NO sympathy and wouldn't bat an eye at the criminal being tortured for the rest of their life. It's a mental sickness, traditional rehabilitation isn't going to solve it, so I say make an example of them. Put fear in the hearts and minds of all who would think to do the same.
Though, another option I like is allowing volunteers with said mental illness to be used as test subjects to try and find a cure or chemical suppressant. (And before the bleeding hearts complain, there's plenty of non-invasive medical tests that can be done, such as MRI scans) Actually solving the problem would be great.
Call me unconstitutional, call me an authoritarian monster or whatever people are calling those who hold a no-tolerance policy towards the worst of criminals are called these days, sure, but the above is my opinion and I'm sticking to it unless somebody can convince me otherwise, though I can't imagine any reason somebody would support child molesters.
