Even if I were fortunate enough to have a girlfriend, I would still feel that the whole Valentine's day thing was a relentless unstoppable commercial machine... Although I would admittedly take part if that were the case!

Profoundly bitter about the whole thing. I'm sure I'd enjoy it if I were ever to actually have a valentine, but this one's looking to be my 18th straight single V-Day, which of course means dealing with everyone's "I WUV U!!!" Facebook statuses and hand-holding couples frolicking in the park for a day.

Bloody hell, cheer up guys. No need for dramatics.

I think it's a nice idea, if it gets people together then good times all round.
Thank you. This thread almost had me slitting my wrists for a while here

I am a single, lonely, odd bastard so fuck Valentine's Day up the arse with one of Yatzhee's dd, twisted, comparisons.

Also, the commercialism is kinda bad too.

It's a holiday that was created for overbearing commercialism. Used to be my least favorite day of the year, if you have a strong enough imagination you can enjoy it even if you're a perpetual single.

To me Valentine's Day is the day exactly one week before my Birthday. I use to to tell myself "okay, so my birthday is Sunday this year", because I keep forgetting what day it is.

To me, it's just another day, I'll probably doing a bit of R&R after a road trip to London on the Saturday, so regardless of whether or not I have a boyfriend by then, I'm spending the day alone in a dark room.
But just walking past the massive, pink, rose and teddy adorned displays in the shops instantly transforms me from being single to sad, lonely and single.

It's one of those days where people in relationships have an excuse to shower each other with love and affection in front of their single friends, who go home and cry and write in their livejournals about their loneliness...
Not that I do that...or anything.

Seriously though, not a fan. It's an exclusive holiday that reminds those who may be independent individuals that we don't have someone to share it with. And usually, I don't have a girlfriend so...
Yeah...that is pajama/video game/beer day. My kind of holiday!

I can top that. This'll be my 20th consecutive year alone. ;D

I've also only just realised that I happen to be going to a party the night before (a birthday party, not Valentine's Day-related), so I'll be spending Valentine's Day with the one thing that never leaves me, even when asked nicely; a pounding headache. This year's gonna be a good'un. ;D

It's a fun day when you have a girlfriend, but still commercial.

Without one, it's Sunday.

Naturally it's a gigantic commercial scam. It's glaringly obvious. No I'm not saying that because I don't have a girlfriend, I'm saying it because why should you just have one day where you can tell someone how much you love them/take them out to dinner/a movie/something else romantic? Why not do it all year round? Or on a day of your choice you fucking robots?
