It is cannoning towards us once more, like we're the damsel tied to the track in front of a moving train. But what do you feel about Valentines Day?
Do you think it's a holiday for giving love to those closest to you?
Or do you feel it has been stripped of all meaning by overbearing commercialism?
Or is it just another day to you?

(Come on we all knew a thread like this would pop up eventually.)
Search bar didn't show a topic like this.

Just another day unless I have a girlfriend, which so far I don't.

Silly commercial rubbish, but if I get a valentine I'll still be secretly happy.

That would imply that it ever had meaning to begin with. It's a stupid arbitrary Hallmark "holiday", always was and always will be.

It was orginally a Christian Holiday and consisted of giving cards and flowers, but this was back in about 500AD. But it has since been changed into a 'Hallmark' holiday.

The Escapist will brighten up my day with another Valentine's day badge! Hopefully.
Don't remind me, I missed out on my badge last year. I felt left out for the week after, as nearly everyone had their new badge on display.

Why would you need a day to remind you that you are in love with someone or vice versa? Its no secret that its a greating card holiday, and for shill companys to sell cheaply made, over priced wank..

its just forced love day. where companies tell you to buy her flowers and chocolates instead of taking the time to make her something that actually means something for her

I'm going to feel sick, have a huge headache and get insanely pissed off with anything that makes a slight noise all day. For I am drinking away the night before in an attempt to knock myself out through the whole of Sunday.

If I had someone to share it with just once, then I might be a little sympathetic towards the holiday. But no to me, it's a shitty holiday. A fucking loathsome, Ass/Arse-sucking, Shit-heap of a holiday!

Its one of those days where it either promises happiness or bitterness, and no in between. Hmm, I wonder what Valentines Day is like in communist states...?

I hate Valentines Day and most concepts that benefit people in relationships. All it does if give couples another reason to copulate, which they usually do anyway, while reminding single people that they're single and social outcasts. Let's make lucky individuals with dates feel special, while crapping all over people who felt bad in the first place. Screw Valentines Day and Sweetest Day and Hug Day and Love Day and whatever fake holiday in a economic dead period they can come up with to stimulate card, flower, and chocolate sales. I also detest the legal concept of marriage with a fiery passion for many of the same reasons (it only rewards heterosexuals), but that's another topic altogether.
