I find any clothes shopping to be awkward like that. And I'm a guy.
See, I know nothing about clothes. I don't really care about clothes all that much. Maybe I care if it's a good T-shirt for a favourite game or film, or if it has a particularly witty saying on it, but generally, I don't care that much about clothes, they're just something I wear to stop people around me tearing out their eyeballs.
As such, the clothes I get for birthdays/christmas are enough new things to see me through the year. Any time I do need something new, I descend into a hell of not knowing where to look or properly understanding sizes, of going to the dressing rooms thinking that everyone's aware of some incredibly obvious error I have made, and wondering how anyone feels secure enough to get naked in these tiny, flimsy compartments.
Also, clothes shops are simply a place that annoys me. They're places that celebrate shallowness, and the people shopping there tend to have similiar ideals.
Overall, I avoid any kind of clothes shopping like the plague.
