[HEADING=1]NOT THE CROUCH EMOTE![/HEADING]

Seriously, this isn't sexual assault. This is some douchebag being an idiot and thinking that he's funny.
Yeah I hate to pull the R card but...

This is utterly retarded. Honestly.

Clarification: Talking about the story in the OP not the person who I quoted.

I liked their post so I quoted it.

If it was you'd see hundreds of millions of posts like these a day.

You don't you see maybe a few hundred a year.

The entire nation is largely indifferent to most of this stuff.

I really like how everyone is 'get over it' rather than 'the guy is being inappropriate'.

Is it a mountain over a mole-hill? That's purely subjective. But if she feels violated, she feels violated. It's the griefer who should be punished, not her.

Edit: That said, no, it's not sexual assault. It's sexual harassment, though, and we ignore this kind of thing at our peril. Just because it's a virtual world doesn't suddenly mean social norms fly out the window.

This is ridiculous. I don't know much about PS3 Home, but you should be able to report a user and move on. It's not happening to you in real life, so why is this such a big deal?

I'm a girl, and if that happened to me I'd probably just sign off and move on with my life. PS3 Home sucks anyways. Just saying.

If it's not real-life, I don't consider it sexual harassment. I do consider it general harassment, however (since it is bothering somebody repeatedly who does not want to be bothered). But... The avatars in home don't actually have reproductive organs, so it's not really "sexual." Then again, "Just 'cause they can't do it, doesn't mean somebody can't sue it."

Reminds me of Sexual Harassment Panda.

although that is definetly overreacting it would be nice to be able to hit them to get them off you're back you know like bitchslapping them and they fall to the ground cause of the bitchslap, now that would be kinda funny cause everybody would be bitchslapping each other in home

I disagree with this. Your avatar is a digital extension of yourself to be sure but we cant start confering human emotions and capabilities on them, your avatar is no more capable of sexual assault in say Home than he is of murder in an FPS. Griefing has been around for aslong as multiplayer and so long as people can have anonymity and interaction your going to get assholes. So somebody followed her around and made a crouch gesture, to call it sexual assault to me cheapens the term and is an insult to women who have been sexually assaulted. Imagine this woman showed up at a support meeting and claimed there she had been sexually assaulted the people would be disgusted.
Amen to that. I was going to say this, but you said it better.

I never understood the concept of people taking the internet like its serious buisness, xbox/forums/facebook/ext cmon people cyber bullying is the bullying for internet tough guys (EDIT: scrawny pussys) i laugh in the face of people who actually react to it let alone make a huge deal about it like this.

That reminds me of the other day, the cops busted down my door while playing GTA. I was arrested for drug trafficing.

Thats... Stupid. Plain and simple

This happens all over the internet, and unless there was any conversation going on during the situation, it shouldn't count for anything.

It's a little sad everybody is just laughing, saying she should "get used to it" or spliting hairs over the diffrence between harassment and assault rather than dealing with the issue at hand.

That this can occure is bad, that people accpet it is worse.

I hope this turns into a lawsuit. Then there'd be a precedent and I could sue those asshole ganking rogues for murder a lot more successfully.

Right, I hate both parties. The harasser was an immature idiot, and the woman blew it entirely out of proportion. I hate people that do that, it's ridiculous. It was not sexual assault, It was just some person being an idiot. Get over yourself.

It drives me insane that people can pull the race card, or the sex card, whenever they please, simply based off of the fact that they were born with something that they can ***** about (i.e. different colored skin or a vagina).
Yeah, do you think there's many men that will complain? It happens to them too. I'm not saying only women complain, I'm saying they have an 'excuse', so more women do so.
