Unfortunately because of the fact the online community is full of bleeding communists, i mean sexist pricks, I hardly EVER run into women in online video games, almost never in fact, less then once a month or more. Forum Role plays on the other hands are full of them.

As a girl gamer I hear quiet a few things the whole "are you hot" line, "where are you from/how old are you", "Do you have a facebook/myspace".. Hell I have even been purposed to a few times during halo and MW2 matches.

One thing that really pisses me off is when I get a friend request after playing one round of halo/mw2 or whatever im playing, I usually accept it AND I NEVER GET INVITES TO PLAY WITH THE PERSON. FUCK!

On another note : If there are girls on XBL are getting offended, they shouldnt be playing online.

Personally I dont give a shit if the other player is male or female if your in my game and your the opponent beware of the headshot, if there on my side gear up and lets pwn. I dont care people are people you can be black or white male or female it dont mean nothing. I have some female friends in my friend list and i have male friends in my friend list.

As much as sometimes these threads get so male bashing like it makes me glad I bought a pre owned (and unfortunately pre banned) Xbox 360.

To all the Gals out there heres my thoughts and advice! Dont put over sexy names in your gamertag / username / steamID ect ect your asking for trouble

its true. whether you are a boy or a girl, if you've got a picture of yourself on your Xbox live, people are going to comment on it. and because many of the x-box live players are pretty low on the intelligence scale, then the attention you recieve will be, in theory, stupid attention (if you are on it for than 12+ hours straight, playing Call Of Duty or what have you, then its because you don't go to school and don't have a job... probably because you made some poor, unintelligent choices... i.e my other older brother)

My limited experience with Xbox Live has taught me that the people who use voice chat are heavily skewed toward the "young teens who learned to speak like sailors about the time they exited the womb" demographic.

There's really no blanket statement to fit why women get so much negative attention. Certainly a large part of it is the anonymous nature of the online experience. It's tempting to say that it's due to the stupidity of youth combined with hormones but really that's a cop-out. There are far too many males of widely varying ages that do this for it to be a decent answer, even if you assume all men are horny until the time they die. Maybe their parent's never bothered to teach them respect (for either gender), maybe the objectification of women in rap and media has taken it's toll, maybe they were turned down for a date by the prom queen or just hate women. Or maybe they are just jerks who think they win by pissing other people off and getting them to exit the arena and find that's the best way to get females to do so.

I've known enough female gamers to understand that there are ones out there just grasping for whatever attention they can get but this is a small part of the population as a whole. Most just want to enjoy themselves and the unwanted attention is just that - unwanted.

One way to avoid male annoyance in an online game would be to use male titles in your name to throw players. Duke, Lord, Baron, Ser/Sir, Tzar! Not only will it throw them off, it sounds cool.
