one question though.. what's an online MMO feature? God, i've been playing games online for about 7 years and i don't know what that is. is that anything like PS3-Home?

Sorry! That's just my inexperience/awkwardness/age showing, in that I'm not 100% sure as to what to call the online gaming aspect of the PS3. Der, hey.

I like to think of myself as a nice, sensible gamer. Well, at least I don't scream racial slurs into the mic and use it for its intended purpose, I.E telling your team where the bad/good/annoying guys are so we can shoot them.

FPS's, mmorpgs, RTS's... Pretty much anything with swords, guns, explosions ...pretty much covers my fave games :/ My sister is OCD so she will play puzzle games obsessivly( after cleaning the house until her knuckles are red) but that aside *cough*

Just stop seperating us female gamers out we arent aliens! We also dont appreiciate this animosity (see Mercenary57's post above) we get from guys who game who dont have the OMFG A GURL complex. Its like we arent taken seriously becuase we must be using our femininity to get ahead in games? wut?

We just want to be treated the same as everyone else we dont WANT people to 'fawn' over us we DONT think we are 'special' so just let us play and have fun k!

It's strange that some guys revert to such a Neanderthal like state when a girl picks up a controller. I have a better question for guys, why shouldn't girls play video games? I like explosions and blood spurting everywhere and obsessively leveling up characters as much as any dude. Seriously. Gamer girls aren't some new and rare species, we're just gamers with a double X chromosome.

I'm not one, but a few months back I encountered one on SC4, then she and I played with another female gamer who is apparently the first one's best friend in real life.

I'll admit, to my embarrassment I was one of those guys who thought to himself "Oh, wow, a chick on xbox live fancy that!" whenever I encountered a girl on xbox live. But now that I play regularly with these two I think I've been disillusioned somewhat, now the sex of who I'm playing doesn't matter to me.

I don't know why people react so differently to women on xbox live as opposed to how they react to women in real life.

Funny you mention this. I did just that last night while severely intoxicated. I was in a live party, so it didn't make it too far. It was probably a distorted, unintelligible rustle anyway, but in retrospect; it was probably something that should only done while severely intoxicated... if even then. I mean... I got fart on my microphone! Who wants fart on their microphone?!? GWOSS!

As for your bar theory, it sounds good, but it's missing the group of males who would (as far as your theory goes) run up to said chick who is drinking beer at the bar, either start dancing or running circles around her, and tell her that she is either
a. probably a fat lesbian
b. probably ugly
or c. probably an ugly, fat lesbian

They will do this non-stop till said female mops the floor with them, or they run out of steam (which rarely happens)

Yes indeed, I am one of these rare creatures. However I am selective gamer female as the main game series you'll see me grinding in are the Dragon Warrior/Quest series of games. I don't know why, I've been playing them ever since I was a little girl and it's the only series of games that even my brother who is an insanely good gamer can't do better than I at (and Chrono Trigger). *shrugs* After that I just enjoy watching other people play games. I have a ton of DQ stuff, lots of slimes - even a slime stylus for my DS! Heh heh.

So yeah, female gamer here.

i do think that yes there are some women that arnt the best looking women.
BUT im not sexist i know a girl SMOKING hot and she can beat almost every song on GH1-4 with 100%

shes showed me and my friends up a few times. but shes also good at things like halo and call of duty. so there is such thing as sexy girl gamers.

My girlfriend is a female gamer, and she kicks ass at rock band and guitar hero. She kicks my ass any day. I LOVE THAT GIRL.
So..... yeah. Maybe its just a chick thing to be badass at rock band.
But she doesnt just play rock band. She plays everything. Loves gears of war.

My girlfriend is a semi avid gamer. She's really good at Rockband/Guitar hero games and loves to play Fallout 3 but she doesn't like RTS or most FPS games. Man she's soo amazing. Love a girl who loves games.

No... I'm not one, but my wife is. And not just with casual games. She is a badass at games like Rockband, Guitar Hero, and Call of Duty.

Better than me at the the first two. As good as me and still improving with the second. I'm not sure if I should hang my head in shame or lift it with pride.

Are you one of these rare individuals? If not, do you know one? And lastly, what is your reaction to them when you run across them while playing online?

I've beaten female gamers and they beat me quite a few times. I could care less to be honest who wins as long as I'm having fun.

Wait? You female gamers are rare? Shit. But to be serious one of my friends hates girls who game. (Why am I still friends with him is beyond me) Reason being is that he assumes all female gamers are the and I quote "Fat chicks who's face is is very lumpy". That, and My girlfriend kicks his ass in Super Smash Bros Brawl and Team Fortess 2(Xbox360 version). It's fucking priceless to hear him whine when he loses. I mean I made him cry when I beat him is Street Fighter 4.

My boyfriend and I are stuck being long-distance for a while, so it's great we both play games; with my headset on it's like he's sitting on the sofa chatting to me while we play Lego Star Wars or our NWN campaign.

I'll play video games with my boyfriend. I'm getting a 360 in order to get back to my fighting game status and proceed to kick my boyfriend's ass again. For now, I just own at Rock Band, Guitar Hero. I'm slowly getting back into my gamer status. It gives something for my boyfriend and I to do as well as something to talk about outside of the bedroom.

We're rare. Especially if we're cute.
