I have never met a girl that plays any computer games other than n64 zeldas and the wii

I don't have any girl gamers in my circle of RL friends, although I roomed with a girl who was a dabbling Expert level player of GH2 and 3. When she was getting drunk and acting like a high-strung crazy person.

Although these days I play a 34 year old with two children who can kick my ass up and down the map in L4D and COD4, at least when her kids aren't around.

c. becomes a complete douchebag and dedicates the entire game to shit talk, team killing, and other forms of douchebaggery. <--- you wouldn't believe how common this type is.

Of course there are your every day assholes who suck the joy out of the game no matter what, but as soon as a females voice shows up, they come out of the woodwork and focus their efforts on said female.

I think a few of you have misconstrued the intention of this topic. I'm not coming in here saying "Wow! I just noticed that chicks play games! HURR!!!" I've been well aware of the fact for quite a long time. I noticed that there are quite a few female members posting here and I wanted to compare their online gaming experience to that of my wife and I.

I also wanted to know how the non-female gamers reacted to them when they make themselves known in a game.

What i always find funny is that the bible is twice as violent as most games and sitting on a couch rotting one's brain watching soap operas and reality shows is considered a more constructive passtime than games, where you use your brain and develop your reflexes.

I must of missed out on those games think my reflexes are dying, or prehaps thats just the drink...
wish i knew a girl who plays games most of the ones i meet are very anti, its the devil ahhh your gonna kill someone type.

I think this is why guys think its special to find a female gamer, because they are scarce compared to the male ones and it is always nice for us guys and our little funny brains to have our pastimes and pursuits accepted and validated by ladies!

I would imagine that on Live there is a lot of macho dick waving to impress female gamers which is normal, we male mammals get instinctively competitive around females of the species and it will take a few more million years of evolution to break that habit

what i am trying to say is everyone out there makes WAY to big of a deal about it. not that they always do it in a bad way. but really i would assume they most of them just want to be considered other players and not be oogled over or insulted because of there playing of the games.

like i said, i would enjoy it if the number of women in the gaming arena went up. but we have all these inconsiderate pricks out there doing as stated. that is either ooging or insulting.

It's been my experience that woman tend to perfer puzzle games, platformers, mmorpgs, social games like the sims or second life.

It's been my experience that women/girls tend to like World of Warcraft and... Nintendo (usually Mario Kart). Even my mom and older sister used to play Mario Kart 64 quite a lot. Seriously. Three girls I've dated have been into Nintendo (I am too, if that needs to be mentioned), and two of them also used to be WoW players.

But then I also know someone who's mainly into fighting and adventure games, with the occasional shooter, and I'm well aware of that the few I've encountered in real-life don't represent the entire population.

It's just men being over competitive and being dicks about it. Same with any sport or activity. Similar to a lot female gamers (yes I know, generalisation), I prefer to game alone for an escape instead of competing against macho dicks.

Secondly: I agree, mostly. I don't mind being beaten by a chick. It's not a big deal, unless they decide to be a dick about it. Same with being beaten by a guy.

Very sorry for my less the amazing grammar skills. Is not one of my best subjects in teh school ;P I agree with that full heartedly. It actually shocked me, i was playing CoD5 and destroying. It was mostly respect and whatnot from the loosing opponents until one of my friends(who just happened to be a girl) got on the mic. Suddenly they all assumed a girl was playing, and suddenly i got lucky or i cheated. Pathetic really, any player who does better then you should have your respect or at least enough of it to keep you from acting like a complete douche bag. by any player i mean ANY player, regardless of sex, age, or any of that.
