So pretty much they reason why I made this thread is to ask you, the escapist, a question on which of these two games I should buy. I have limited money and both of these games are so amazing, I cannot come to a decision on which one to buy. What do you think?

I think flip a coin. They're moderately different games. What type of game do you like more?

FF13 if you don't mind a linear game, Mass Effect 2 if you like Tali.
I do like tali, and hopefully I will finally get to see what she looks like.

MASS EFFECT 2 ARE YOU INSANE!!!

ahem.

FF13's style has been done many times before, and any FF's plot is usually predictable. Mass effect's story blew my mind, and the setting is fairly original.

Plus, FF has been getting 8.5-9.0 reviews whereas Mass effect 2 has been getting 9.5-10.0 reviews.

Oh, I do hope that we're not judging by numbers. Maybe if the reviewers compared the two directly perhaps?

OP: I want both, I'll probably get Mass Effect if only because I want the whole trilogy. Watch a few gameplay videos when they come out and make your judgement then. That, and a few reviews should help you make up your mind.

I'm totally with you guys. FFXIII is a GORGEOUS game (possibly the best looking game for current gen systems), but Mass Effect has much more replayability. ...And Tali. We are all whores for Tali and her juicy chicken legs. I'd Colonel Sanders THAT! *spanks invisible ass*

One of my problems is I've been waiting for a good FF since 10 and its been a while, though I do agree that Mass Effect has an amazing story and I gotta know what happens next I just hate you gotta work with Cerebus, those bastards.

Mmmm Some sequel to a game that was good. However, I never got connected to at least 90% of the characters or Final Fantasy 13?

It's kind of hard to say because they are both such completely different games. You really can't compare them directly. It really just depends on if you prefer the WRPG model, or the JRPG model.

Mass Effect 2. Unlike Final Fantasy, I found Mass Effect to have decent gameplay, a good storyline, and (in the biggest difference from the Final Fantasy series) LIKABLE CHARACTERS.

I really don't like Final Fantasy.
To OP: Please disregard extreme personal bias. Of course, you probably will since you're already considering FF13 in the first place.

I'm a fan of WRPG's, so Mass Effect.

I really like the original Kingdom Hearts when it came out, but since then I haven't really gotten into any JRPG's

I've played my fill of JRPGs I think. There was a time when a new FF coming out would have had me in fits of fanboy hyper-tension but these days I want something a little more out of my rpgs.

Go with Mass Effect.
