Personally I'd go with FF13, but I'm a notorious Sony fanboy. That said if any game was to convince me to buy a 360 then ME2 would do it.... That new trailer is looking mighty tasty...

Rent them both, cheaply, if you want to play but have no quarrel about owning, for a bit more than £20 you can rent them...I think

Infact EDIT

I am getting Final Fantasy
If you choose the same you will probably get, a great film, battles that are faster, more action packed and what seems more strategic than the other Final Fantasies, the best graphics I've ever seen, (aside from the EU/NA theme song) some of the best music in a game this gen (seriously check the battle theme) and crummy anime dub va.

If you get Mass Effect 2 you will probably get, great story, gears of war in space battles, good graphics, a generally forgetable soundtrack and a pretty good va cast.

I say probably due to my experience with past games and research on these, I've played neither though.

Mass Effect 2

I kinda stopped paying attention to Final Fantasy after FFX-2

Mass Effect 2 easily. Do not get me wrong. I love the FF series and would get that too when you get the money. However... Motomu Toriyama is a talentless **** who squirted out FF X-2: Yunas Dance Beat. So since he is lead director of FFXIII I expect it to be pretty but not have much else.
That bastard is the Uwe Boll/Michael Bay of SquareEnix.

And yes, for all the sad, pathetic weirdos out there. Tali is now romancable. BIG JOLLY! Hopefully I can shoot the ***** in the face or even better, let Blinky do it.
Do we get to make sweet, sweet alien love to her?

Get both, they are spaced far enough apart from eachother for you to be able to beat ME2 and save up enough money for when FF13 comes out. You got a whole month to save up 60 more dollars for FF13 and by them you'll have probably beaten ME2 at least once. Hell if it's anything like the first game (which I hope to god it ISN'T), you'll plow through ME2 in around a week.

I would go with ME2, mainly because it is a sequel to a good game and it looks pretty awsome right now.

It's kind of hard to say because they are both such completely different games. You really can't compare them directly. It really just depends on if you prefer the WRPG model, or the JRPG model.
In other words, it depends on whether you prefer a little innovation now and again, or the same RPG you've been playing since the days of NES. I mean, what would you consider the standard for the "WRPG model" to be, exactly? Baldur's Gate? Mass Effect? The Fallout series? They are all pretty unique unto themselves. But I guess Final Fantasy 13 doesn't have any game which is similar to it. Oh wait, I forgot about the 12 games that came before it...
There's also the fact that, of these two RPGs, only ME2 has actual role-playing in it. So, you know, that helps its case a bit.

FF13 if you don't mind a linear game, Mass Effect 2 if you like Tali.
I do like tali, and hopefully I will finally get to see what she looks like.
I'm totally with you guys. FFXIII is a GORGEOUS game (possibly the best looking game for current gen systems), but Mass Effect has much more replayability. ...And Tali. We are all whores for Tali and her juicy chicken legs. I'd Colonel Sanders THAT! *spanks invisible ass*
Actually I find Tali creepy from a physical standpoint. But most of the fanbase seems to disagree with me.

Replayability is rarely a factor with me.
That's why I threw that in there. FFXIII isn't as re-playable as Mass Effect, but it's a fun ride none the less.

-Also, on the topic of Tali... HOW DARE YOU SAY TALI IS- nah, I agree somewhat. I just like the idea of having sex with an alien chick that looks like a real alien, and not a woman who painted her face blue. I...I want to make Captain Kirk proud...
