Final Fantasy is a franchise now only for the die-hard-hard-core fanbase... and even to that extent FF13 seems to fail.

also, you don't HAVE to buy the game new at launch price, just wait 6-8 months till it drops in price then pick it up. Even games I'm absolutely crazy about I very rarely buy at full launch price, it's also good because in those 7 or so months you have plenty for reviews to be written and you read them to make a more informed decision.

Mass Effect 2 is one of the best games of our generation (IMHO) and it's definitely the best game I've ever played.

It would be a crime to not get it.

FF13 if you don't mind a linear game, Mass Effect 2 if you like Tali.

I do like tali, and hopefully I will finally get to see what she looks like.

flip a coin, they're both going to be great games so either way you win. If you've played through Mass Effect 1 then it may be worth going for ME2 first since the idea of your past choices affecting future outcomes is just a mindblowing idea!

That or you could sell a kidney and buy both.

I tend to prefer games where I actually have some control over what my characters do in the cut-scenes and how they got there, so I'd vote for ME2.

Final Fantasy 13 looks waaaaay better than Mass Effect. I think this is because of the massive, sweeping changes to Final Fantasy for this version, combined with the fact that I still have flashbacks to the twenty or so hours of utter boredom and pointless run-around between the good bit at the start and the good bit at the end of the first Mass Effect. Gaah I could not let the Council burn fast enough...

So pretty much they reason why I made this thread is to ask you, the escapist, a question on which of these two games I should buy. I have limited money and both of these games are so amazing, I cannot come to a decision on which one to buy. What do you think?

This forum isn't the best place to ask people about their opinion of games when you are a JRPG to anything as most people have massive chip on their shoulder about them. Probably has something to do with Yahtzee as most have never played them and use the same old arguement points or just call them gay or something similar or blah blah turn based combat etc...

OT: They're both good. If you want something linear get FF13 or if you want something a bit more open and in space get Mass Effect 2.

Yeah, using the word "Japs" is going to limit you time on here quite considerably.
