Final Fantasy XIII: New Official Trailer

I really don't know what to think of it so far. The Story segments are nonsensical but the battles look interesting. Though I am loving Hand to Hand Trenchcoat Dude now, whatever his name is. As well we appear to be seeing a new character, a red haired fellow who appears to use guns, though whether or not he's a main character or a tag a long remains to be seen.

It certainly looks pretty, but the bizarre actiony battles make me wonder how this beast is going to play.

I've been waiting ages to see some lengthy scenes of the actual combat, and I must say it looks awesome. Seems really fluid and dynamic, just what I would expect from FF. The cut scenes look beautiful as always and the environment looks really pretty. Too bad we have to wait for 2010. *sigh*

I liked FFXII... but I can't argue that early indications didn't prepare me for what I actually got.

You make a fair point... and with what I've seen of this trailer...

My bet is we'll be getting another X-2, not QUITE as bad mind you, but that's the closest Final Fantasy spawn I can compare it too. The story will probably be less silly, but I'm betting it'll have the same over blown approach.

See, this isn't 4chan. On the Escapist we like to have people use proper English when they post things, it's OK to use things like 'lol' once in a while but next time use proper sentences please?

Back on topic, I liked FFXII, but didn't actually complete it, mainly because it's back home with the PS2 while I and my Xbox 360 are about 100 miles away at university, so I can only play it when I'm home on holidays and stuff. This definitely looks good though, much better than FFXII, so I can't wait to get it (and it's going to be on Xbox, so I'll be able to play it frequently ).

...yes, because my spelling determines the games credibility. No wonder we have so many judgmental and racist ppl out there. Did u seriously look at my post and say, "His spelling is horrendous! Final Fantasy XII is definitely a horrible game!" ???
If that were the case then I would have gladly spelled everything perfectly but id rather not waste my time seeing as most ppl(at least should) judge a game on how ...i dont know....good it actually is? >.>

Aha, it works like I thought it would.

The whole system is set up around an ATB gauge that's constantly refilling but has an upper limit. Every action you have at your disposal has an ATB cost associated with it. There's no MP--all actions are gauged and balanced based around the speed of the action.

Now if I only could read Japanese and could understand what the menu is. It's likely that a great deal of options are on the controller and not in the menu. That's the ONLY way this could work smoothly as such a system is going to be too absurdly frantic to be worked on via menus--much more so than the FFX-2 system was as that worked on how fast the ATB gauge would recharge after an action rather than ATB costs; you were still taking turns. This has it set up so that the characters act more or less simultaneously, it would seem.

If u read a post before u automatically quoted and critisized it...we wouldnt have this problem. Yes, u did not say that every1 hated the game....and i did not say that u did. Ur accusing me of accusing you of something u didnt do...when there was no accusation. I said, "u make it sound like" it wasnt a personal insult set out to destroy u from the inside out.... i could care less. I just thought that "and we ALL know how that turned out" suggested that we ALL disliked the outcome...that is all.
And i could care less about my spelling...if i did, i'd use spellcheck, but i obviously dont. I could waste my time and include every letter in every word...but its just a forum site...not important, get over it.
